not Acadia... New-France... in 1534 Jacques Cartier came to the Gaspesien peninsula to plant a cross, that still stands today, but the first real settlement was in 1608 when Samuel de Champlain established Quebec City, the oldest city in North America (epic Party for the 400 year).

For the most part... the settlers owed a big favor to the natives... when they first arrived it was the dead of winter... cold and scurvy plagued the sailors... the natives saved them...

Once the settlements were established, the colonists started to hunt and learned from the indians...

As if the Spaniards and french didn't fuck anything up even more. The first settlement in Cuba, they moved to Haiti and the Dominican for slave posts from Africa, and England's colonized areas around the world of oppression etc. point is, nothing has changed today.

If you want to get technical the Europeans did it, not the Canadians. And the true killing of the Natives started as America was about to get its Independence.

The first settlers were actually the Spanish in the Mexico and Gulf Island areas. Next was Columbus.

Wasn't the Canadians that did it it was the Europeans that came over, Canada us called Canada because it comes from a Wendat (Huron-Iroquoian) word, kanata, that means "Village" or "Settlement". well Cabot found Newfoundland, columbus found central americas, wikings found greenland and baffin island. Natives found the whole continent which is speculated to be people from asian that took centuries to cross the ice bridge connecting modern day Alaska and russia.
