Not mine, sad poem

The Final Inspection
The Soldier steed and faced See. which must always cemo pass.
He hoped his shoes were shining. just as bright as his erase
Step forward you Soldier. Haw shall I deal with yew?
Hays you always turned the ether cheek? To My Church have you been true'?"
The Soldier squared his and said, "He. Lord. I guess I ain' t.
Because these of us whe carry guns. can' t always be a saint.
We had to were meet Sundays. and at times my talk was tough.
And sometimes We been violent. because the weed is awfully rough.
But. I undertook a penny. that wasn' t mine to keep
Though I worked a let of evertime. when the bills got just m steep.
and I never passed a cry for help. though at times i sheet: with fear.
Ant) sometimes. Gee forgive me, We wept unmanly tears
I know I dent deserve a place. amend the people here.
They never wanted me around. except to calm their fears.
If we' a place for me here. Lard. It needn' t be so grand.
I never expected er had tee much. But if we dent I' ll understand."
There was silence all amend the chrome. where the saints had often trod.
As the Sewer waited quietly. fer the judgement his Gad.
Step forward new. you Spider. yeu' ye borne your burden well.
Walk peacefully en Heaven' s streets. yeu‘ ye done your time in Hell."

Reading the arguments on this picture make me think of one quote. "You can't fix stupid. You can only stand around long enough to see it kill itself."

but thats the thing about god, whether you were always a good person or whether you messed up and drowned in sin, he still loved you and his love never changed
User avatar #111 - theaflackduck (06/11/2012) [-]
Made me think of this, the last verse brings tears to my eyes no matter how many times I watch it.

my belief is if your out there actually and truly fighting to protect the people you love and care about the army is alright
User avatar #74 - hakysakit (06/09/2012) [-]
Not saying anything against soldiers, But if we wont allow gay marriage because "it says you cant in da bible lolz" Then we shouldnt send soldiers to kill people.

it said judgemen from HIS god doesnt really mean its from the bilble
User avatar #81 to #74 - hakysakit (06/09/2012) [-]
This is meant to be pro gay marriage/anti religion running our country.
Not anti soldiers.

I am really unsure what this is supposed to be saying, honestly. There are plenty of loopholes in this "holy book" that governmental officials and churches use against logic. "killing in the name of protection" is apparently not a sin, at least that's what I've been told.
America is far far far behind in society no matter how much we want to say we're a first world country. we still can't separate church and state.

Two older brothers in the Marines. My younger brother and myself are joining the Army. Best of luck to you, my friend. It's a tough world and you'll need it.
User avatar #73 to #72 - warlike (06/09/2012) [-]
Thanks man, were your brothers swampy or hollywood marines?
User avatar #75 to #73 - MitsukiOokami (06/09/2012) [-]
I'm not quite sure what that means. I'm not familiar enough with Marine lingo.
If by Hollywood you mean trained in Cali, then yes.
User avatar #114 to #75 - trostell ONLINE (07/25/2012) [-]
So you know, the Marines do their training in one of two places, one on the East coast, one on the West coast. I know it's San Diego for the West coast, but I'm unsure of the spelling for the base on the East coast and Google isn't helping.
User avatar #115 to #114 - MitsukiOokami (07/25/2012) [-]
Is the East Coast training base not Parris Island? The base in South Carolina?
User avatar #116 to #115 - trostell ONLINE (07/26/2012) [-]
YES! That's it, thank you. You are a scholar and a saint.
User avatar #117 to #116 - MitsukiOokami (07/26/2012) [-]
I'll take scholar, but saint seems a bit farfetched. Glad I could help.

Yea, you got it. I'm going to be a swampy. I've heard Cali basic is just as rough.

I hate to be THAT guy, but in Christianity, being a soldier, or killing enemies in times of war is acceptable. though, it said God; not christian God.
User avatar #56 to #51 - woonanon (06/09/2012) [-]
But isn't that still killing a man?
#58 to #56 - iownzu (06/09/2012) [-]
Though killing is against the top ten, it has an exception. (like almost everything) Which is: you can protect your family at all costs. and you are to obey the laws of your country. so, by killing the enemy, they cant invade and hurt your family. also you're under contract, so that would be against the law to not follow orders. also. if that doesn't cover it. frankly, with Christianity, everything is ok if you repent.
User avatar #59 to #58 - woonanon (06/09/2012) [-]
Oh, alright.

How are you going to heaven though when you kill millions of unborn children every night looking at pictures of dicks?
User avatar #82 to #77 - kirkbot ONLINE (06/09/2012) [-]
I don't go to heaven, because I don't believe in it

Soldiers fight for freedom. And the protection of their country. War isn't the best way to go, but it's all we really can do.
To a lot of people, they aren't ********* . They're saviors and guardians. And besides, who made you judge of what could go to heaven or hell?

It's been a little over 2000 years since the 10 Commandments. I think things change.

so god talked to you and gave you new commandments, saying the old ones are not valid anymore? please do share them with us

So I suppose you follow all 10 Commandments then. Including not saying God's name in vain.
And hey, something that is 2000 years old tends to be a little unreliable.

No, he's just the gatekeeper. Kinda like that big ****** in The Shivering Isles. You have to kill him and then make a new version if you want to go to heaven though.
