This morning, I was picking up some dog food at wal-mart and I noticed an old man with a walker. He would scoot it forward, pull his cart up a bit, and take a step. It was taking him forever to get to his car, even though It was only in the Handicapped spot. I walked up and pushed his cart for him. His car had two bumper stickers- One that said "USMC Retired" and one with a purple heart. As I loaded groceries into his car he said "Son, thank you so much. It's been hard ever since my wife died. My body just don't work the way it used to when I fought in Korea. Nope. Took a bullet to the thigh, and now my leg's gone to hell. You just made my day." he invited me over for a beer, but I declined because I was going to a friend's wedding this afternoon. He was a real hero, someone who served their country well and was forced to pay for it. All the feels, man.
