What everyone fails to realize is, the spinning top wasn't his totem, it was his wife's totem.
His totem is his wedding ring. He only wears his ring when inside the dreams, but whenever you see him outside, there is no wedding ring.

In the film, that is his wife's totem, so it is useless to him. However, Cobb's wedding ring serves as his totem. In his dreams he is still married, so the ring is on. In reality, it is taken off. It is not present in the final scene.

This content made me finally watch Inception. That was one of the greatest movies I've ever seen. Thanks OP, today you're my hero.

Personally, I think that the top did fall over and he wasn't stuck in limbo. Because every time he spins the top in the movie (granted it's not his totem), it never did falter, sway, or seem out of balance. If he spun it, then it was perfectly balanced. Granted I'm going purely off of my memory.

His kids didn't age from his memories and just happened to be doing the same thing?

Director said that the point of the ending was not to show wether he was dreaming or not, but that he was paying attention to his kids rather than the totem

I have to watch this again because every time I think back on it, I get the stories with his wife and kids mixed up with the ones from Shutter Island.
The totem does actually fall over 1 time during the film while he is supposed in reality.
Cobb's projection of his kids were always the same. Wouldn't the kids have aged? They look the same as they did when he last remembered them. This means he is in a dream
When he dreams he is wearing his wedding ring, but when he spins the top we see that he is not. My personal opinion is that he is not dreaming.
