I know someone who was at some 4th of July thing and he started tearing up (not crying) when there was a quick succession of fireworks near the end (it somewhat sounded like gunfire).   
   
Someone asked him why... and he responded with how it reminded him of his time in service and he said nothing else.   
   
But I knew the real reason (he told me months prior)... he was seeing the memory of  when he lost his best friend in a firefight. He looked sad the rest of the night...and no one knew why.

Man , that's sad. My father serves in the military,but thank god that he didn't see the battlefield.
