He deserves an Oscar. It pisses me off that he already doesn't have one.

I think it pisses everyone off.
Except for the other nominees. They'll know they have a better shot if he's in it D:

Cause Shutter Island wasn't even that good. Most people called the ending in the first 30 mins.

Because Shutter Island is retardedly bad. Jackie Earle Haley was the best note in that whole movie and he was only on screen for about 5 minutes. The twist was painfully obvious, and Leo over acted the hell out of the reveal in the flashback. Really, it's a bad movie.

jhonny Depp doesn't have an Oscar yet either.
maybe just maybe him and leonardo could both be a movie and one win for best actor and best supporting actor.

Most movies released at the beginning of the year aren't even considered.
I don't think Gatsby stood out enough for the Academy to remember it by next February

What's all this fuss about him not having an Oscar? Other A-list actors/actresses don't have Oscars and we aren't fussing about them. Why Leonardo?

Never trust the oscars. In 1995 Forest Gump won best picture, yeah it was a good film, but look at two of the films it beat:
Pulp Fiction - An absolute masterpiece of sly cinematography and brilliant acting (plus an angry Samuel L Jackson speech too)
The Shawshank Redemption - One of the most incredible movies ever. (i mean how the **** did Forest Gump beat it?)

TL;DR The oscars in a sense don't count for anything, Even Nicholas Cage won one

The american public likes white retards better than any black guy. Notice that Forrest Gump killed off the main black guy less than twenty minutes after introducing him.

Who cares about what an awards show thinks? DiCaprio is one of the most respected actors of Hollywood. So what he doesn't have a ****** Oscar; they have a habit of ******* people over.

Brad Pitt doesn't have an Oscar. Neither does Tom Cruise. Or Johnny Depp. Will Smith and Harrison Ford are in that list too.

Nolan, Kubrick, Lynch, and Hitchcock never won any Oscars either. Yet they're classified as some of the best directors of all time.

tl;dr oscars are overrated; does not decide talent.

I agree with all...but I think Johnny Depp is highly overrated. He's done the same roles over and over again "Crazy Pirate" "Crazy Hatter" "Crazy Chocolate Factory Owner". It feels like he got stuck with Jack Sparrow and all his manner are now similar. He just comes across very good makeup people who transform him and people think he's a good actor. He did excelent works with older films, but the recent ones who didn't have him on a giant costume were usually pretty bad.

Are you gonna tell me just because he isn't a versatile actor, he doesn't exceed in performing in his roles? The Oscars only honor one role anyway.

He was amazing in Blow, Fear and Loathing, Finding Neverland, and even Dark Shadows. You cannot undermine an actor just because of his more recent work.

I found Dark Shadows very dissapointing. Nothing new to add to the "creepy but funny guy" cliché.

And I'm not saying he doesn't deserve an Oscar...He was amazing at What's eating Gilbert Grape, and so was Leonardo.

I was disappointed watching Gatsby, because I was hoping this would be the one to win him the oscar. Unfortunately, maybe this is just my opinion, but the movie wasn't that good, and it was nowhere near his best role.
