For those who are interested *SPOILER & DETAILS* Chewbacca dies because they were trying to evacuate the last people off a planet (Sernpidal) before it's satellite crashes into it (catastrophy triggered by a species of aliens from outside the galaxy, called Yuuzhan Vong), with Anakin Solo being the last. Due to the intense atmosphere pressure changes along with quakes etc, Chewie barely manages to get Anakin on the Falcon's ramp, before Han is forced to fly off before they are all destroyed.
He gets to see a last glimpse of Chewie, rising to his feet (after being knocked down by a blast) and looking up, before seeing him being seared and evaporated by the cataclismic explosion.
Since then, Han has had a very rough time getting over his guilt on being unable to save Chewie AND forgive his son, Anakin (who he partially blames for Chewie's death, in his agony over his lost friend)

P.S.: Chewbacca was ~233 years old when he died

But how was chewbacca in the movies that had anakin as darth vader?
Sorry i have not much knowledge on starwars
User avatar #7 to #6 - bluelightbebop (02/06/2013) [-]
This happened later.

Anakin Solo is Han's son, named after Anakin.

But just that.
User avatar #8 to #7 - kasperscar (02/06/2013) [-]
Ah, very confusing

You seem to not have knowledge on English, either...

I was talking about Han & Leia's third child, Anakin Solo.

I'm sorry, I cannot relax can i, i have to be completely perfect in writing English on a site at 3 in the morning, also I had no clue that there was comic books and only knew about the movies. So i am sorry for my ignorance in star wars.

Han Solo named one of his kid's "Anakin" as a sort of homage to Luke's father who was also named Anakin.

Where can I get this? because I want to know what happens after the films, is it comics? books? please tell.
User avatar #24 to #23 - tkfourtwoone (02/06/2013) [-]
There are dozens of books (not to mention comics), some of them very good, some of them "meh".
Honestly, the writers that expanded the Star Wars universe (that's why anything outside the film is considered a part of the Expanded Universe) made sure that every 1-2 years or so the galaxy was threatened by a major conflict :))
If you want to find out the most important event after the movies, I suggest picking up Tymothy Zahn's "Heir to the Empire" trilogy (released in 1991, they were the first ever SW books that CONTINUED the story, unlike "Shadows of the Empire", for instance, that shows what happens between Ep. V and Ep. VI) which are 3 of the best SW books (all hail Grand Admiral Thrawn!)
Also, MIchael A. Stackpole's X-Wing series (that feature a brand new character and describes how the New Republic takes over Coruscant) are ******* awesome as well.

Thanks, I'll look it up!

Those were good books. I surprised myself, I didn't think they would hold a candle to the movies
User avatar #33 to #25 - tkfourtwoone (02/06/2013) [-]
They're clearly light-years ahead (quality wise) than the prequels...
User avatar #15 to #4 - pkashp (02/06/2013) [-]
SPOILER! Then, of course, Anakin goes and gets his ass whacked by the Vong.
User avatar #17 to #15 - tkfourtwoone (02/06/2013) [-]
He doesn't get his ass wipped, not at all. He dies defending his loved ones, as far as I remember, in his last moments becoming so strong in the Force he almost became ONE with the Force, shining like a beacon in the night.
User avatar #18 to #17 - facetiousrunner ONLINE (02/06/2013) [-]
he does become one with the force. If my knowledge serves me right three people have achieved that state.
User avatar #38 to #30 - facetiousrunner ONLINE (02/06/2013) [-]
well the three i knew where on the list but there was a lot more than i knew

I knew Luke , Anakin, and Gannar

false he becomes darth ceadus and died a sith
User avatar #39 to #37 - facetiousrunner ONLINE (02/06/2013) [-]
In the end he reaches out to his gal and daughter though showing his humanity. He did what he did to unite the galaxy in hatred of him. Total Lelouch style.
#40 to #39 - deadlyambitions (02/07/2013) [-]
in the later series it shows y he did that, he did it to change the future and save it from the sith but he never gave up sith ways when he died due to being sith even in death
User avatar #41 to #40 - facetiousrunner ONLINE (02/07/2013) [-]
"He declined to do so, using his last moments to contact Djo in the Force and warn her that she and Allana were in danger. At that same instant, his twin bond with his sister returned, just before he died. These actions convinced Jaina that, in his final moments, the persona of Darth Caedus had retreated and some of Jacen Solo's light side aspect had shown through" that is from wookieepedia. So you can argue he wasnt truely back in the light but had shown some of it. I havent read those books in so long, so I'm a touch rusty.
#42 to #41 - deadlyambitions (02/07/2013) [-]
In the book Apocalpse in the fog of forgetfulness fighting aboleth it comes out he doesnt regret anything and shows he is still one with the dark side, due to the light side being "weak"
User avatar #51 to #42 - huntergriff ONLINE (03/01/2014) [-]
he doesn't regret it because...in all reality...he stopped the whole his daughter from being a slave to the dark side bit from occuring and united both the Imperial remnant and the Galactic alliance, albeit releasing some asshole from its slumber by doing so, but still.
