the ending ruins the game series..having played all the games, read all the books, spent hours on halopedia/halonation. i've grown to love the characters and the story..but that ending...just washed it all away. i wont be playing halo 5 or 6 or any others that come out, and i wont buy any more books or toys. i have actually packed up my Halo stuff games, books, figures, etc...and placed it in my closet where it will stay while i try to forget and think about the happy times...the better times
"in defense of earth and all her colonies."

Over dramatic much.
Plus I'm pretty sure the one major character death isn't much more than the several in 3.

didn't care about miranda, didn't care about johnson. you can't kill that character and be like oh it doesn't matter. did you read the books without that character they would have never made it that far. (tricky wording without giving it away) and as for over dramatic...um atleast i didn't cry like half the people here...
yeah like humanities survival rested on miranda and johnson....

I'm going to put this as best I can without spoiling anything. It would have been too easy to wrap everything up into a neat little bow and everything be ok (aside from a new war). They took a big risk with the ending, and it worked in my opinion. According to someone who claims to have read all the books and played all the games and spent a lot of time on halopedia, you would know that what happened had to happen at one point. I think they just added an interesting twist to something that had to happen anyways. Didn't thumb down, just bringing up a point.

i dont give a **** about the thumbs..whats gunna happen i have to enter a captcha every time i comment? please i do that already. im not thumbing anyone down. but FJ is full of the butthurts..like red thumbs are a death sentence or something whooptie do right?
User avatar #233 to #227 - hibbydibby (11/10/2012) [-]
I view thumbs as more of a way of showing agreement or disagreement at this point in my fj career. Didn't red thumb or green thumb because I didn't agree or disagree completely with what you were saying. You have valid points but you do forget that sci fi is never set in stone.

im simple saying this game was good. the ending FOR ME ruined anything after this. wont play or buy it. and everyone is being all polly pissy pants about it. the people who say you now earth didn't need them anymore...you know thanks for saving the earth and humanity but now you can **** off. makes alot of sense
User avatar #241 to #238 - hibbydibby (11/10/2012) [-]
Well you are entitled to your opinion, sir. I rather enjoy a good sharing of thoughts every so often. I do see your point and fully understand your angle. Good day, gent.

yes but an AI can be fixed. she wasn't dead she was DIEING. she killed herself to save him. they could have just as easily had him arm the nuke grab her and barely escape...and Halsey could have fixed her.
User avatar #229 to #224 - hibbydibby (11/10/2012) [-]
I suppose that's one way to just throw spoilers out there all willy nilly and ****
User avatar #232 to #229 - DevilsCalling (11/10/2012) [-]
well other buddy gave it away with the 'humanity doesn't need cortana anymore.' so the cat was already outta the bag
User avatar #236 to #232 - hibbydibby (11/10/2012) [-]
Just noticed that. You have a point, good sir. Phanact should consider cleaning some more things up until this posts leaves front page shortly
User avatar #237 to #236 - phanact (11/10/2012) [-]
Its already off if I recall

Humanity didn't really rest with cortana anymore either. I have read the books and I can say that at this point in the series timeline it's not this whole ''Oh **** now the fictions ruined forever'' problem you're making it out to be. It sounds like you're just harking on the nostalgia and already made fiction of the franchise and saying '' **** everything that comes afterwards! I don't agree with a plot point and therefore the whole thing is ruined!''
Hence forth the over dramatic statement. Would I be right in guessing that?
User avatar #222 to #206 - DevilsCalling (11/10/2012) [-]
oh you know the only one who knew alot about the forerunners was Cortana...and now the new enemy is the forerunners...not to mention that Spartans are anti social. so Johns will is no broken without her. i forget what book it was. but the one spartan gets wounded, but his AI is very badly damaged and she dies. once she was dead he instead of easily saving himself sat there and watched the sun rise allowing himself to bleed to death. their two sides of a coin. whats one without the other. humanity doesn't need her? then they dont need john either as the Spartan 4 program is in full swing..so yeah i dont want to play a game where there isnt the two of them. whats the three stooges without curly, whats the blues brothers without elwood, whats James bond without Conery? like ****

**** , I'd love to see chief go a little mental. I'm sick of having the invincible incorruptible killing machine all the time. Also, cortana isn't the only one who knew about the forerunners. Maybe at one point she was but now that is easily no real problem, and the world doesn't necessarily need chief if you wanna be blunt about it. He just chooses to save humanity because no matter how many spartans they make, none will reach the peaks that chief has.
User avatar #244 to #239 - hibbydibby (11/10/2012) [-]
True: Chief has achieved quite a bit, but let us remember Reach and the sacrifices made by Noble team to ensure Cortana made it to the Pillar of Autumn

The unsung heroes of the Halo story, you think that June might show up in Halo 5? Or maybe one of the ODST's or the Arbiter
User avatar #250 to #247 - hibbydibby (11/10/2012) [-]
That would be quite interesting. If Halsey survived then maybe Jun did too. It's hard to tell, guess we'll find out in the next 2 or 3 years.
User avatar #243 to #239 - DevilsCalling (11/10/2012) [-]
so once again like i said before
"thanks for saving humanity, and the earth. but now you can **** off."
real nice way to pass on the torch of one of the greats franchises since starwars.
**** it remake star wars and have anikin just be killed by obi wan...cut his head off and thrown him into the lava...
can't wait and see how chief figures out how to solve a problem that only Cortana could solve before..like idk firing the missiles on the Dawn, activating the halo to destroy the Ark. piloting a covvie ship..he can do that **** for himself now
#246 to #243 - superxspartan ONLINE (11/10/2012) [-]
Don't see why not...
User avatar #248 to #246 - DevilsCalling (11/10/2012) [-]
...if it takes a AI thats so god damn smart a few minutes to solve that problem then i guess chief can learn to fly one or launch a rocket in a couple of years..yeah hold on bad guys i gotta figure out how to open this damn door
