Sad story time fj.
but worth the read i hope.

Back when i was only 14, i walked in on my friend who had slashed her wrist and throat and bleeding to death.
3 months of pure agony and rage led me to attempt suicide.

I went to a bridge over the river where i new the water was deep, tightly wrapped a belt around my ankles then my wrists, and jumped in.

They would never find the body. My parents would never know. My friends wouldnt care. I would just disappear.

I struggled but never got to the bindings in time, as I had planned it.

I blacked out.

Somehow i woke up on the shore with a woman in her mid 20s crying over me.
She said a few words I will never forget. "Why would you do such a selfish thing? What if I hadn't turned around to make sure you were ok?"

I had a drunk of a dad who only worked and barked in my face, my mother was always taking care of my mentally handicapped brothers, my best friend slashed her own throat, and i felt like i was alone in this world. Why would this one stranger, this one random woman, care more for me in passing than my entire family over 14 years?

She saw a sad young man walking down the street with nowhere he wanted to be.
If she hadn't pulled over I would be dead right now.

She died 4 years later in a crash with a drunk driverHer name was Chelsea Marie Smith. She gave me the hope and courage to continue, even when I was in pain.
and I will never forget her.

heres something i figured out from my years of dealing with life.

you know how you always look forward to something? a tv show? a video game?
when you look forward to something that might be, like a great mmo you want to happen.

do that with life.
look forward to the day you have the perfect girl, you get to go on your own adventure, the day you have your dream job you fought so hard for.

your parents pave the way, i live with my mother currently and were closer now, me and my father get along and as long as its in small doses we enjoy eachothers company.

i even recently felt like i had no friends, so i had to go out and find some on my own. i even use okcupid.com to meet new people and form new relationships.

keep a hobby, keep good memories, and never ever let another person determine whether or not you are happy.

and go adopt a dog, im sure theres one out there at the pound waiting for someone like you

and dont feel bad for me. I'm stronger for all of it. I have national awards for my work with special needs kids, I had 3 years of university paid for, and I have wonderful (if very few) friends.

Make your own luck. You'll be suprised how life turns out.
