Oh i got it, his hand is smashed and while it really hurts everyone says he is imagining it, just like depression: you are actually hurt but everyone keep telling you to go on.

This is exactly why I quit therapy. She would ask WHY I felt depressed, and when I couldn't produce an answer, she would say "okay, so if you have no reason to be depressed, then you shouldn't be." Thanks, bitch, I payed you 100 dollars an hour for you to tell me that I logically shouldn't feel the way I do?
Cognitive therapy sucks dick...

>Be 11 move to another state miss home so bad, fall into terrible depression
>Grades flop, I let my personal health and hygiene just flop, kids at school make fun of me and call me names (fat ass, slob etc) >Act happy in front of parents, not wanting them to worry about me >I didn't even understand it was depression, I just thought I was being lazy, or stupid.
>Two years later
>Look up depression symptoms
>Got a feeling I have depression, ADD, and bipolar tendencies.
>Decide to "ride it out"
>Two years later >still have terrible depression, it got even worse, began ditching classes, (didn't help that in art class my teacher made fun of my work. It was my only way to make me feel somewhat happy.)
>Go home after every day go straight to room spend the entire night in room. My grades were solid F's.
>Go to kitchen
>Find a steak knife
>Began cutting very deep cuts on my upper arm.
>The only thing I remember thinking while doing it is "this doesn't help anything..."
>Stop cutting five cuts later
>Sheets on bed bloody as hell
>Try to sneak them downstairs to wash them
>Mom finds me.
>Takes me to emergency room.
>One year later
>Doctors say I've got chronic depression, ADD, Bipolar tendencies, slight OCD, and anger issues.
> ************* .jpg
>Tons of counseling, tons of adderall and zoloft at abnormally large amounts for a teenager it kinda looks better.
>6 Years later
>Managed to pull my grades up to solid A's during high school, no longer skipped school, go to Air Force academy.
>Currently I'm in the air force as a pilot, and honestly... if it wasn't for that huge ordeal I wouldn't be who I am today. A person who is aware. A person who understands. If your going through this get help, talk to someone. Don't be ashamed. It helps. It gets so much better, and you get such a beautiful view on life if you just hang on for a tad bit longer. Promise.

This is the best description of depression I've ever seen. I had a friend that never understood it and would always tell me to "snap out of it" but she does seem to get it now. Thanks for sharing.

>Have depression
>Mum is an alcoholic who attempted suicide twice and Dad beats the **** out of me when he has a bad day at work
> Friend hangs out with me one day
>Tells me about this girl he likes kissed him but now says she doesn't want anything to do with him
>Says how he's depressed like me and his life is just as hard

>that feel when everyone thinks I need to see a psychiatrist and at the same time are mad at me for not showing much emotion for it
>that feel when I still cry and scream hysterically about once a week when I'm alone

I won't share my story, I'd rather not to be honest, but I will say this. To anyone (and I mean ANYONE) who feels depressed. Don't give up. It's true the world is a dark place, a broken bone that needs mending - and it's true life isn't fair, if it was then we'd have nothing to learn. There's nothing worthwhile to be learned from a lesson without pain, it's when you overcome that pain and make that lesson your own is when you start to grow as a person. I know how it feels, it's cold; painful and lonely. It feels like no-one can help you and everything everyone says is paltry and useless. But if you have the strength to move one finger, if you have the strength to realize that there IS a part of you that screams "I'm alive" - then use that strength to stand up, and walk into tomorrow. Rome was not built in a day, but they started from somewhere - so why don't you? You don't have to build a city, you just need to place the foundations. Your foundations. And most of a your friends and family DO care, to tell yourself otherwise is just ******** - it felt like no-one could help me either; but I was wrong. It took a great distance for me to realize how concerned everyone around me was; and the same goes for you. And if you think your suffering is too great and you find yourself thinking of suicide then pull yourself together. What do you think happens when you die? I'm not talking about heaven or hell, I'm talking about those left behind. Do you think it'll be sugar and rainbows with everyone skipping into the sunshine because you're gone? Don't make me laugh. People will cry, they'll mourn; they'll fall into the same place you were. So don't die for others, live for them. Live and carry each other into a brighter future, that's what it means to be human.

It's alright if you went tl;dr - but if this message got through to just one person. Then that's all that matters.

What pisses me off more than people who don`t get how being depressed is, is people who think they are depressed. REAL CLINICAL DEPRESSION is hell. 8 years of it until i finally got medicated. 8 years of not 1 shed of happiness.

People often connect depression with sadness, and think that it's just an emotion. Depression isn't an emotion, it's a disease. It is a full-blown disease that can really **** a person up if they don't get the true help that they need. And it pisses me off to to the extreme when I see someone trying to reach out for help on the internet because nobody will help them in real life, and the only responses they get are "get over it" or "cheer up". Tell that to a cancer patient. It's essentially the same situation, because you are telling someone to get over something that's harmful and a part of them, which is, not to mention, something that they can't help.

I'm severely depressed to the point where I think of suicide constantly throughout the day, constantly planning out how to do it and when and with what, so when people act negatively towards others with depression I get a little butthurt.

( I originally tried finding a random funny random gif for the people who dgaf but then I came across this and it just fits better)
tl;dr- I've felt that **** and it sucks dick

I had severe depression until I met the love of my life. In a mental ward for suicidal kids,go figure right? She's the one person who wants to fix my crushed hand.

Pic related, also, talk to somebody at your school, there's always somebody who can help.
