This made me think of Tom Bombadil from Lord of the Rings. Could he be the spirit of death?

Why would death be soo happy? And I'd prefer you tell me in what way he is related to death.

Well, the book says he was there before the elves came to middle earth. It also says that he was there before the Dark Lord rose to power. Everyone assumes Tolkien was talking about Melkor, who was one of the ainur. So, that means he was there before even Illuvatar created the ainur. So, in that sense he is like death. He was there before everyone and he will be there long after everyone.

I appreciate your wisdom dear sir. It pleases me to find a LOTR fan out there that knows what the fuck Illuvatar, Melkor, The Maiar and The Ainur are. My only regret is I can only thumb you once.

Me again. I loved the Silmarillion but I had to force my way thru parts of it. It gets a bit heavy.

Yeah, same is going for me. There is a lot of information. However, if you can get through it, it tells a beautiful story.
