Watching these makes me feel like Bethesda doesn't understand the Fallout universe outside of what they cooked up in 3. I really wish Obsidian had helped them write 4.
Well for starters, these are supposed to be like educational videos about what the wasteland might be like but they throw in stuff like ghouls and super mutants. Nobody would have known these things would be around post nuclear war. These are supposed to be like those old fashioned nuclear war PSAs from the 1950s but it falls flat because these aren't made with knowledge that people in the Fallout universe pre-war would have.
Also, they are unnecessarily violent. I get that they were trying to go with old cartoon slapstick but those old cartoons never took it that far. Neither did those nuclear war PSAs from the 1950s that these are based off.. Bethesda thinks that violence is one of the main draws to Fallout when it really isn't. The biggest example of this is that trailer from their E3 presentation that was like 2-3 minutes of combat.
I get that these are supposed to be trailers meant to inform you about the game and its mechanics but its giving me a red flag about what's to come.
It may not be a main draw to Fallout (or at least it wasn't) but the perk system has been around since the first Fallout and many are based on using violence. These perks were created pre-war to enhance the vault dwellers so they obviously envisioned everyone being against each other.
The effects of radiation were also considered to be heavily mutagenic and creatures like ghouls/super mutants were somewhat expected...remember that Vault Tec's sole purpose was to view the results of many experiments. They never really wanted to save anyone as they kinda doubted nuclear war would happen.
Super Mutants have noting to do with radiation though. They were created by FEV. I doubt Vault Tec predicted Super Mutants running rampant in the wasteland.
Just to put it simply, it feels like these trailers are just fan service meant to appeal to the majority of the fans. The ones that just care about going pew pew in a post apocalypse wasteland.
Same, I've been saving for over 3 years to buikd a PC and I have themoney finally. Unfortunately, I'm too cheap to builkd it in time, I'm waiting for black friday/cyber monday so I can get deals and stuff. Whats worse is my crappy Toshiba satellite is broken right now so I only have my old 360 to game on with no gold because I switched from console to PC. The satelite was only like $300, but it works pretty well, skyrim on mid settings, fallout3/NV on high side of mid. The case is cheap af though and thats why its broken
