STEP TWO: IF YOU GET TO YOUR LAST ATTEMPT, JUST BACK OUT OF THE COMPUTER AND START OVER, THE GAME ACTUALLY TELLS YOU TO DO THIS IN ONE OF THOSE HINTS.
There is absolutely no reason why you should ever fail a hack completely or get the perk that allows you to hack a computer you're locked out of.
