Because the way the game is coded autosaving ***** them up and corrupts them.

Just like quick saving does.

Basically,you have to manual save all the time to stop that. Hence why Fallout 3 and New Vegas have a mod called CASM. Cas's Automatic Save Mod.

I'v never had a problem playing Fallout 3 on pc or and Fallout, It must be PEBKAC.
The only game that i have problem with is Skyirm and that is because it has no crossfirex support.

Okay go to MY DOCUMENTS then MY GAMES then FALLOUT3 edit the FALLOuT.ini file with notepad. Look for a line that says bUseThreadedAI=0. Change that to say bUseThreadedAI=1

Then hit SPACE key and type in iNumHWThreads=2 right below the other line. (if you still get chrashes change the 2 to a 1)

That happened to me with Battlefield Heroes. Best free shooter you can find, but I got so much lagging and crashing I couldn't even get into it before the next episode.
