Fallout and the Elder Scroll series both are legendary but I'll take Fallout over Skyrim anyday
User avatar #69 to #3 - cannibalvegan ONLINE (10/03/2015) [-]
I personally didn't enjoy exploration all that much in Fallout 3, that's why I prefer TES. I'm playing Fallout: New Vegas at the moment, though. Pretty decent so far.

I'll take any real Elder Scrolls game over Skyrim any day.

To be fair. Skyrim is pretty trash compared to other Elder Scrolls.
User avatar #5 to #4 - orangebeanie (10/03/2015) [-]
morrowind is the best tho.
User avatar #6 to #5 - sptnfouroneseven ONLINE (10/03/2015) [-]
I prefer Oblivion myself, but each their own. But it's generally known that Skyrim wasn't as good as previous ones.
User avatar #7 to #6 - orangebeanie (10/03/2015) [-]
because they dumbed it down for the mass consumers.
User avatar #8 to #7 - sptnfouroneseven ONLINE (10/03/2015) [-]
And a few other things. Like not having Shivering Isles DLC.
User avatar #9 to #8 - orangebeanie (10/03/2015) [-]
Shivering isles felt like a whole new game in itself, It was the most expansive dlc I've ever played.
User avatar #18 to #9 - banwagon (10/03/2015) [-]
Dragon-born DLC felt the same to me as shivering isles did for oblivion.
User avatar #10 to #9 - sptnfouroneseven ONLINE (10/03/2015) [-]
Same.
User avatar #23 to #9 - thechosentroll (10/03/2015) [-]
Yeah, that DLC ruined Oblivion for me, since after I finished it I couldn't go back to the boring old world of Tamriel.
User avatar #41 to #23 - akulakhan ONLINE (10/03/2015) [-]
I'd always finish all other quests before going to Shivering Isles, so I could fully focus on the DLC and have no reason to go back. So SI has always been an end game level of the game for me. Same thing with Bloodmoon and Dragonborn.
User avatar #48 to #9 - baditch (10/03/2015) [-]
Man, I miss the days when DLC didn't exist and the only way to add more content to a game was to release a full-fledged expansion with new territory and everything. Bloodmoon and Tribunal and Shivering Isles were the good **** .
User avatar #61 to #6 - homosexualpirate (10/03/2015) [-]
Skywind. That **** is great
User avatar #42 to #6 - akulakhan ONLINE (10/03/2015) [-]
Same. Oblivion is my personal favorite, but I consider Morrowind the pinnacle of the series.
Skyrim is a fun hack n' slash game (because it sure as hell isn't an RPG), but it's lacking in comparison to older titles in the series.

>"Morrowind had a better X system"
User avatar #49 to #34 - baditch (10/03/2015) [-]
Morrowind was a flawed masterpiece. The combat was atrocious but the world was so great that it was impossible to care about the combat.
User avatar #53 to #49 - asotil (10/03/2015) [-]
It's pretty easy to care about the combat when there's 4 arrows stuck in a mans head and he's being stabbed but not taking any damage because the Dice Gods don't like my ******* pants that day

You can't get into the world because everything wants to kill you and no you cannot fight back

That ******* larva will kill you because he has more Skill than you. **** your Flaming Daedric Claymore

A game that does not work, or works solely on dice rolls for a core component, is a bad game. That's like if in Fallout for example there was a 80% chance of you falling over and taking damage from walking because your Agility wasn't leveled high enough at the very beginning of the game

It wasn't a flawed masterpiece. It was a flaw
User avatar #54 to #53 - baditch (10/03/2015) [-]
True, I didn't get to explore properly until I leveled up enough.
User avatar #46 to #5 - failtolawl (10/03/2015) [-]
yea the first game of the series I played is also the best game of the entire series.
User avatar #26 to #4 - theoldfritz (10/03/2015) [-]
yea, skyrim is watered down
but thats the good part of it somehow
and the reason why is it so succesful
User avatar #38 to #4 - adu ONLINE (10/03/2015) [-]
To be fair, the best Elder Scrolls game will always be the one that came out during your youth when the twinkle of imagination was still fresh in your mind.

But maybe I'm just being cynical.
User avatar #22 to #3 - thechosentroll (10/03/2015) [-]
That's cause Fallout 3 and NV are the equivalents of Oblivion. Skyrim is the watered down version. Wait until Bethesda decides to water down Fallout 4. THEN you'd be able to compare it to Skyrim.
User avatar #50 to #22 - baditch (10/03/2015) [-]
I hope that you're wrong. All the extra customization in FO4 gives me hope though. Remember how you could craft spells and ridiculous mountain-leaping potions in Oblivion but not in Skyrim? I hope Bethsoft heard the complaints and are trying to go in the other direction with this one.
User avatar #72 to #50 - thechosentroll (10/03/2015) [-]
So do I, but I kind of doubt it. Everything I've seen so far, combined with Bethesdas' track record, indicates that it's going to be the Skyrim of Fallout - lots of hype, lots of new fans, lots of preorders, lots of disappointment for people who've played the previous two games.
User avatar #43 to #3 - sanitarysan (10/03/2015) [-]
i thought the mods for elder scrolls where better then new Vegas but maybe we will see fallout 4 make a comback

I just wish Fallout had as many mods as Skyrim.

Especially the character customisation mod. That **** is dope.

dovahkiin works out his upper body just going down the street and is fueled by the soul of a ******* god. he will win. Fallout vs Skyrim
User avatar #67 to #14 - heartlessrobot (10/03/2015) [-]

I remember my first time trying Skyrim's DLCs. I was on legendary difficulty, I was kicking ass on the vanilla game, and I thought the Dragonborn DLC would be a breeze.
It was not. Not even close.

The Dovahkiin has neither a Strength stat nor an Unarmed skill, and thusly has no way to boost either. The Courier, on the other hand, has both.

The Dovahkiin would probably win in an actual fight, but in an arm-wrestling match he doesn't stand a chance.
#37 to #33 - demandsgayversion (10/03/2015) [-]
Dovahkiin has a buffness slider, Courier does not.

User avatar #66 to #39 - demandsgayversion (10/03/2015) [-]
Performance begets looks. So yes, yes it does.
#76 to #66 - anon (10/04/2015) [-]
So according to you a strongman would be weaker than a bodybuilder, just because the bodybuilder has more defined muscles and a more impressive aesthetic?

I stand by what I said - a person with a muscular might be stronger than average, but looks are not friggin everything. Stats are.
#79 to #76 - demandsgayversion (10/04/2015) [-]
I don't give a **** about strongmen and bodybuilders. We're comparing The Courier to The Dovahkiin. Show me a strongman with the body on the left. You can't be strong and have NO MUSCLES. That's not possible.

The Courier can't be as strong as Dovahkiin with that body. If his strength stat got him stronger than Dovahkiin, he would have bigger muscles than Dovahkiin.

I mean **** , Courier needs maximum strength stat to pull a sword out of the ground at the chinese memorial, but Dovahkiin lugs around heavy armor and a bag of **** , and can STILL jump on top of a ******* dragon and stab through it's scales and skull.
#51 to #33 - anon (10/03/2015) [-]
The person in the Vault 13 overall is not the Courier...
It's either the Vault Dweller or the Choosen One
I'd say the latter
But thats just anon saying some dumb **** , right?

The dovahkiin can kill a dragon god with brute force alone. If you even try to kill a Deathclaw using melee, you may aswell just climb in to its mouth to save you the trouble.
User avatar #63 to #33 - heartlessrobot (10/03/2015) [-]
One handed.
He can cleanly decapitate a man in full steel plate, using a blunt weapon.
He can also shove an iron sword clear through steel plate armor. His arms are hydraulic pistons.
#78 to #63 - anon (10/04/2015) [-]
Blunt weapons do not have a decapitation animation, actually, only bladed weapons do.
