Uemm, what? I guess you forgot thatl was on here? For the record,
your tamer and I got you PLENTY for Christmas last year, this year and every year. In
fact, it breaks our hearts that you would even some on here and lie about something like this
for no reason. Do you think pretending to have bad parents makes you seem 'cool'? If so,
we will be happy to return all of your presents or perhaps give them to some kids who might
actually be grateful to have them instead of pretending that they didn' t get anything for
Facebook likes. Ijust don' t know why you would do something like this after we go out of our
way to buy you mings that we can barely even afford.
We just asked your tamer to return everything, I hope you' re happy now.

I don't think anybody literally does get **** for Christmas.

If I did, I'd probably cry,

My parents always act like what they get me isn't all that great, but I am super grateful for whatever they give me, and it usually is amazing! This is my first Christmas I have had money...what should I get them?

pic related, me to my parents

I grew up, and still live in a poor home, my mom's on disability and can't work, and my sisters are in school, my dad lives elsewhere as they have been divorced since I was two. I've been lucky to get gifts that amount to $300, which includes the $100 my dad usually gives me. My mom literally saves all year to make sure my sisters and I, mostly them, because I'm 23, just finishing school and can't seem to find a job yet, but she saves all year to get us the little we can. Every year I ask for nothing because I don't need **** , but she tries any way. When I see people whine about iPhones, laptops, or even ******* cars, it makes me just wish everything they thought they were entitled to would just vanish. I have a laptop, a cell phone, an x box 360, and I bought the family a 52 inch TV, just from my summer job as an umpire. It's honestly not that hard to save up money, if you're parents are letting you live n your house for free, even working part time for 20 hours a week you could still bring home 6-800 dollars in a month. Now I have no problem with parents who spoil their kids, as long as you make sure your child appreciates it, you work hard for your money do what you will with it. If I happen to get a good job in the next few years, and have a kid, they will likely get spoiled, but I will also be sure to teach them how we got where we are.

Once when I was little, all I got for Christmas was a sweater from my uncle. I remember saying "This Christmas sucks" right in front of him, and now I deeply regret ever saying that and I wish I could take it back. Looking back, I can't believe how vain I was back then. Especially because now I ******* love sweaters

If I ever got children, I wouldn't give them Christmas presents at all.

I'd be an awesome mother.

There's a difference between giving some presents or gifts and giving everything the kids ask for, just in case you see no middle term.
Plus, if you teach your kids to behave and study and giving SOME of what they want as reward it will be much better than not giving anything at all.

Some kid in my school a couple years ago got a brand new Ford f-150 as his first car ( remember that he's 16 years old) and he complained on facebook about how his parents ****** him over because we wanted a red one and they got him a black one. He called them the ********* parents ever and said he was going to never drive it to teach them a lesson....

Meanwhile my parents helped me pay for half of my 2002 Ford Ranger ($1850 each) and I still feel like a spoiled little brat because of that....

Do people really feel this entitled? Holy **** buckets, I work during the time im not in school and spend 90% of it paying bills for my parents and I'm still in high school. My computer that I bought with a little bit of spare cash at a black friday two years ago is the most I've ever wasted on myself.

Nowadays all I get excited about during Christmas is the dinner.

It upsets me knowing that the parents probably caved and got them presents anyway.

I dunno, as a mum, if my daughter was an ungrateful twat, I'd defiantly take everything back, and only give them dinner on Christmas and a cracker ... maybe some coal to rub it in

gif just because

I don't want anything for christmas, my parents always ask what I want, but I always buy it myself. I get €200 every month for studying, and that's already more than enough, so I don't need anything more.
Just being with my family is what I need.

Maybe if people stopped celebrating consumerist holidays, they'd be more grateful and actually learn humility. Before you call me a liberal pig or communist, you have to know I was raised as a Taiwanese. The closest thing we ever came to receiving gifts was when we visited relatives and receiving money for new year's, and promptly after being handed our little red envelopes, our parents returned them to our aunts, uncles, and grandparents and thanked them for the gesture. So there. Don't spoil your kids and they just might not become assholes.

One year I decided I felt the Christmas spirit. I sold my iPhone and my computer and made sure I got something nice for everyone in my family; I was a jobless college freshman and I spent $700 I didn't have on people I cared about.

In return, I received a bag of chips, an ironing board, and an MLP coloring book. I am still bitter over this massive screwup of karma.

...What relative gifts a MLP coloring book? Plot twist: anon is really in kindergarden and a 6 year old girl.

Piece of **** deserved his presents to be taken away. I always, since I could afford it, bought my parents gifts every Christmas.
User avatar #54 - captainfuckitall (12/19/2013) [+] (1 reply)
As someone who went from being considered rich in my childhood to stark poverty in my teens, I can honestly say that losing everything was the best gift I could have ever received, and worth more than anything I could have ever bought.

Because being poor and backed into that corner, it teaches you things about yourself and your principles, and what's more is that it gives you a foundation to stand on. It shows you that happiness comes from you rather than what you have, and being content comes from appreciation rather than abundance; and even if you view it in a completely negative light it still shows you what opportunities you can have with just a bit of effort and ingenuity, and that there is no shame in doing a dirty job or what you have to do in order to make ends meet.

Honestly, I wouldn't give my experience away for any amount of money offered now. And I heartily suggest to every parent that when your child reaches a "mature" age, you force them into a position of poverty and desperation as well. Believe me, it will do them more worlds of good than any material thing you could ever give them.

The only thing I hated about Christmas growing up was being the product of divorced parents. So there would be two Christmases (don't give me **** , that was how it was) and would get me the same thing.
So guess who would have to pick which parent would return the thing?
Me.
What a ****** position for a little kid to be put in, especially on Christmas.
User avatar #69 to #66 - admiralshepard (12/19/2013) [-]
Well, here's to growing up early, escaping from your family, anti-depressants, and sweet sweet independence. *cheers*

Thanks for the conversation, it's been nice to talk to someone with similar experiences.

I find it really ******* hilarious that everyone around me is going ******* over getting a white iphone and not a black one or some stupid ******** like that while I'm overjoyed that I got a new pair of socks. Don't get me wrong, I can more than afford that kind of stuff, but I don't feel the need to get myself a ****** piece of plastic.
