Alex‘ No. You were just listening to a shit radio station.
The brits took over 40 years ago with the who, the Beatles, the
stones, the kinks, led zeppelin, the yardbirds, small faces, the
animals, the hollies, the zombies, moody blues. Any credible non
bubble gum pop garbage station wouldn' t dare play anyone you just
listed, theyre playing god like music like these bands here. If this is
the best music England is making today I' m appalled, because they
can' t even hold anyone I just mentioned' s guitar case. The brits
aren' t taking over, its just that your listening to a station that plays
bands who don' t care about their art, they care about their profit.

Apart from this post being amazing, why do people assume that Britain is England?

because us americans think ireland is just potatoes and beer, we think northern ireland is colder potatoes and beer, we think wales is a fish, we just know that scotland has kilts and the only scottish person we know is groundskeeper willy. I mean I know that britain is more then england but the average american does not. Ok well they do they just refuse to recognize it.

Great. Another 'the music I like is better than the music you like' post.

You look me straight in the eyes and tell me that any one out of Queen/The Beatles/Led Zeppelin/The Rolling Stones/The Sex Pistols/The Who/Black Sabbath/Iron Maiden/Pink Floyd are worse than contemporary popular music today!

Wow....we meet again. I do believe we once had a discussion about the 'catchiness' of music, didn't we? Small world.

But to what you were saying. If I genuinely preferred the music of more modern bands/artists, I'd look you straight in the face and tell you. What I'm getting at is: musical preference is purely based on taste. You can't conclusively say X is better than Y...because that's a subjective matter.

Open mind, man :)

Hahaha, just realised that! That is absolutely true, but I would make the point that this content doesn't specifically relate to someone 'sucking', as far as taste is concerned anyhow. The commenter is just clarifying that the so-called 'British Wave of Music' started out a long time before contemporary artists started gaining their fame and recognition.

Completely agree with you there, I myself get tired of preaching the message that something in music doesn't simply suck, no matter how deeply you may loathe it :)

THANK YOU! It so pisses me off when people on this site ******* glorify themselves just because they listen to older music. It's like they think ALL older songs trump any new, contemporary song. It's so blasted annoying

Indeed, and in addition to that, I frequently find myself having to battle against the converse of that statement. In other words, some people are so stuck-up that they fiercely argue that "metal simply isn't music",which is why I always try to avoid this fallacious logic whenever I discuss music, even if the genre/artist/song mentioned is one that I dislike.

He forgot to mention Queen (I think Freddie was a Brit) but otherwise yes, "popular" music today sucks ass.

Although agree with the majority of this post, I have to say Ed Sheeran's songs are ******* class. ATeam is a great song and about a really potent subject.
