~~people~~ tumblr has a tendency to "ship" characters together (i have no idea about the origin of this term).
then comes the big bad creator, the one person who has authority on a particular piece of fiction, and says "what really happened was X".
This becomes a "cannon" that destroys "ships".
now cannon is also used to diferentiate which fictional storyline is "the real one"
a head cannon is what you personally think is what happened, without any support from the creator.
