I have a wii u but not a 3ds. mfw I found out that anything past 3 ultimate is 3ds exclusive.

Just buy a used one on Craigslist for like, $80 or some **** .
User avatar #12 to #3 - ezzay (08/23/2015) [-]
how do you not have a 3ds?
User avatar #41 to #12 - jamiemsm (08/23/2015) [-]
im buying a new 3ds at the start of next month. do you know if they use the same charger as the old one?
User avatar #42 to #41 - nyandroid (08/23/2015) [-]
They do use the same charger. But for some reason it doesn't come with it. Hope you have the charger from the old 3ds or a dsi
User avatar #43 to #42 - jamiemsm (08/23/2015) [-]
i don't sadly, but the charger can be bought pretty cheap the same place where ill be the new 3ds. but it just says its for the old 3ds.

but if its the same its all fine

That's like the opposite of most people.

Yeah I just never really like'd handhelds that much, and buying a 3ds just for pokemon didn't really seem worth it. I know there are plenty of other good titles, they're just not anything that tickles my personal fancy Only reason I have a wii u is because my parents got one for the family but no one else used it, so I just took it back to college with me.

It's been fun though, I got MH3U a couple years ago for it and loved it. Got Smash 4 when it came out. 7/10, fun console, not enough games for it tho.

it's a thing from Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate. The lady is the guildmarm, and she cracks jokes all the time. in this case she's talking about a D20 die used in tabletop gaming type stuff

I actually dislike the Monster Hunter 4 game. I constantly found bugs that would annoy me, and the cult following for it in my classes always promised that the next chapter would be harder It really wasn't
#5 to #4 - vincalz (08/23/2015) [-]
How far in to the game did you get?

And what bugs? I've played 200+ hours and haven't found a single bug.
User avatar #7 to #5 - VincentKing ONLINE (08/23/2015) [-]
I think it was about 130+ hours, finished the story and went onto the next 2 sections. I tried the guild hall but I mainly played it with my brother since our fighting styles would always help each other.

I mained a bow for most of the game, and swapped to a switch axe towards the end since people gave me **** for using a bow in my first MH game.

I will attempt to list the bugs I found in no particular order:-

Enemies had a magnet effect in which they would all fly to a central point, fight to be in the center of this ball, and eventually fall to the ground to then target me.

Enemies would freeze in their animations. I don't mean that they got frozen from some ice attack, I mean their animations just stopped, and would stay like that for 10-15 seconds.

My bow had an explosive element on it, and if using the spread shot on an enemy, there was a chance it would trigger the big explosions. This is normal except it made the game crash several times when doing so.

When fighting the land shark thing after the story, I had once again used my bow and somehow managed to cause a never-ending explosion to occur.

With the same monster, I was on its back after it was meant to have shaken me off. I fell through its back and onto a different cylinder collider within its body. I then got stuck there while it did its air spin over the boat.

When fighting the Pink Rathian with my switch axe, I used a jump attack and got caught between its wings. I was stuck in the jump-attack animation for a while until the monster flew to another area, and dropped me to the ground.

I have had monsters get stuck when travelling between areas when shot with, you guessed it, my explosive bow.

On countless monsters, I have experienced their hitboxes travel to spots that they shouldnt reach, like the zinogre swiping in front of it, yet hitting me when I was at its butt. This happened with a few boss monsters too.

The final fight against the Shagaru Magala, it got its head stuck in one of the boulders and couldn't turn. It took a bit for it to blow up the boulder and start attacking me again.

With the wifi, it would disconnect my brother and myself from local wifi play, saying it lost connection despite us sitting next to each other (the only game where this has happened to us (this note is put in since everyone else says its a 3DS issue, however if it only happens to MH, then they are doing something wrong))

These are the ones I can remember from the top of my head, however there have been a couple other incidents. I tried talking to the games cult following about it they are named that since they attended class, but only played MH during class. If you didn't play it, then you were nobody however apparently it was just because I hadn't logged enough hours, and they wouldn't listen to what I had to say.

Sounds like you have a bad case of wireless lag.
User avatar #9 to #8 - VincentKing ONLINE (08/23/2015) [-]
0 lag when playing, and we were using the wifi from the 3DS for the local play thing, rather than connecting to the internet. As stated before, every other game we played never had this issue, with none of them lagging.
User avatar #23 to #9 - thesecretbear (08/23/2015) [-]
That seems rather odd. I know for a fact that the monsters freezing for a moment is a result of lag. Try playing through the internet with other people or something. My friend who has notoriously bad internet (lags even when playing stuff like dota2 or terraria) is able to play MH4u with very rare lag issues online.

Could be some issues regarding local play.
User avatar #26 to #23 - VincentKing ONLINE (08/23/2015) [-]
It just seems odd that it would lag in local play when sitting right next to each other, but I can chalk that one up to being something wrong with the 3DS systems instead.
User avatar #27 to #26 - thesecretbear (08/23/2015) [-]
Maybe. All i can think of is that the local play was never perfected for either the game or the 3ds. Keep in mind my experience with local play was like one time when my friend was over and we didn't feel like getting anybody else involved in a few quests.
User avatar #29 to #27 - VincentKing ONLINE (08/23/2015) [-]
That could be a possibility, however the MH cult following in my classes seemed to play on local connection for hours at a time with no issue. Hopefully by the next game, whatever was causing the issue for me will be gone.
#10 to #9 - vincalz (08/23/2015) [-]
I've never even heard of, well, any of these things happening, never mind seeing them.
User avatar #11 to #10 - VincentKing ONLINE (08/23/2015) [-]
unfortunately that is the response I get from most others, and they adopt a "If I haven't seen it, it mustn't happen" attitude.
User avatar #14 to #11 - thereeinusall (08/23/2015) [-]
All the symptoms look like some sort of wifi interference but if you're absolutely sure that's not the case then i'd presume the copy of the game you owned was corrupted somehow.
User avatar #15 to #14 - VincentKing ONLINE (08/23/2015) [-]
well it would make 2 copies since my brother and I both experience an array of bugs, both bought on separate days from separate stores.

However it is the attitude from others that we received because we pointed out the bugs is the reason why I dislike the series now. I am used to a couple bugs in games, hell, I am sure that me just holding a controller magically creates bugs for me to find basically really really easy for me to find a bug in a game, whether it is a small thing or game crashing. Latest one was in the sword art re:hollow fragment game in which my partners walk animations wouldn't play, and the game would randomly crash between areas however when people make it out as if I am in the wrong for experiencing a bug, and that I should love the game unconditionally, it sort of puts some hate onto the series.

My brother even got harassed online because he said he hopes Capcom aren't taking on more than they can handle with all the new upcoming MH games harmless comment, just wanted to make sure the games wont come out half-assed by the end of it
#16 to #15 - thereeinusall (08/23/2015) [-]
I'm just tryin to help with the problem.

People are just getting defensive over the series, It's a solid game and honestly provides hours upon hours of gameplay, people would get defensive over it. Especially when you're problems only seem to be akin to you and you alone.
User avatar #18 to #16 - VincentKing ONLINE (08/23/2015) [-]
I understand, and I do appreciate it, however it you would assume that some sort of quality control would have picked up on it a bit.

And I understand that they can get defensive over it, I mean I did play it for 130+ hours and was enjoying it, however its mainly the whole "I never got that bug, so it mustn't exist" thing that annoys me, especially when they later complain about bugs in games they never even played Side long story short, brother is a huge Sonic fan, he played Sonic Boom, and to be honest, a lot of bugs that people talk about (namely from the game grumps videos) only happen by exploiting other things, or purposely trying to break the game. We gave their game a shot, enjoyed it but had bugs and got hassled over it. They didn't even try our game, complain about bugs, and hassle us over it. (this is the cult group from uni, not the majority of fans online)

Sorry if I rambled a bit, kind of tired and am constantly swapping between tabs on here
User avatar #19 to #18 - thereeinusall (08/23/2015) [-]
Quality control can only do so much, and honestly I think they've done great. Bugs are insanely rare in the game and never seen. But still unavoidable. You ever tried programming?

I believe you about the bugs but honestly I think it's not a part of the game itself and is most likely caused by another issue.
User avatar #20 to #19 - VincentKing ONLINE (08/23/2015) [-]
I actually have a bachelor degree in Game Design and am making my own indie game. I understand that bugs are unavoidable, however one of the first things you learn is it is your job to find them, and make sure they dont appear for the players. If you do leave bugs in, you need to make sure that they aren't harmful to the experience, or the game itself. Most of the bugs in the MH haven't been overly harmful, however they do get annoying.

I have tried my game on both my old 3ds and my new 3ds xl, and both seemed to have bugs appear. The weapon of choice when finding most bugs has been the explosive bow, which may be a major factor to it since the majority of people I talked to don't use bows in the game (claiming they are for pros only because of their difficulty) and also prefer to use proper elemental weapons rather than explosive.
#21 to #20 - thereeinusall (08/23/2015) [-]
I'm studying Games Design right now as well! What engine are you using? And do you have a alpha or beta of your game out yet?

Again i'm just statistically speaking here, No matter how much you pinpoint the issue to the game I haven't found or heard any ANY other person speaking of the issue. If there was an issue with the explosive element in game it would have been reported already considering how long the game has been out. Which leaves me to believe the issue isn't with the game.

As you know you're 2 in 3.9 million people who have bought and played the game to have claimed this.
User avatar #22 to #21 - VincentKing ONLINE (08/23/2015) [-]
We're using Unity, since it is apparently one of the easier ones to develop for, and we have a couple of alpha builds but we are having close friends test it at the moment, and when we are further along will be spreading it out to others.

Well I have no idea what else could be causing it, since some issues couldn't be the coding. I'd attempt to get more technical about it however I have no idea on their process on putting the game onto cartridges or how they would even check for faulty ones.

And I do understand, we are a very small minority that have the bugs, but it is just unfortunate that people just turn a blind eye to some of these things. I mean you have been even more helpful than the cult following that we talked to, in which case we just hadn't logged enough hours.
#25 to #22 - thereeinusall (08/23/2015) [-]
Just don't point the blame towards the capcom, or even the cult following for getting angry at you. You just seem really adamant on pointing the blame to the developers here when there's quite a few more possible reasons for the issues you've been experiencing, which if said to fans of the series could really cause them to be defensive.

User avatar #28 to #25 - VincentKing ONLINE (08/23/2015) [-]
I guess I would just prefer to have someone or something to point a finger towards rather than turning a blind eye towards it all. It sucks that this happened but it could also just be me cant remember if stated before but I have a habit of finding bugs in games unintentionally. In the ESO beta, I managed to get into areas that weren't completed yet (I think it was Deshaan) Other people were stopped by an invisible barrier and told me to do it again, but instead I explored an unfinished world for a couple of hours . I may try one of the future MH games out, hopefully I can experience it the way everyone else does

I also forgot to ask, what program are you using for game design? Rather curious about that now.
User avatar #30 to #28 - thereeinusall (08/23/2015) [-]
Not working on a game right now, not until i'm back in college.

But i've used Game Maker, Unity and dabbled a little in UDK. Still rusty as **** but that's what learning is for.
User avatar #31 to #30 - VincentKing ONLINE (08/23/2015) [-]
It will get better, I can promise you that. I dabbled in a bit of Game Maker for a sprite based game, but since the course was catered towards 3D games, we ended up just using Unity.
