God, my DM would have said, ''lol too bad **** you" and ruined the fun for everybody.

Now this is how horror is suppose to be, not gore and jump scares.

>be me
>playing Amnesia drunk in a call with some friends
>screensharing because **** it
>I go into this basement area, for some reason had no recollection of it even though I've played the game for hundreds of hours
>there's 3 doors on the right
>roll a D6 to decide what door to enter
>3
>Kay guess I'm going in the second door
>I swing the door open
>Literally empty except for a gatherer
>slam it shut faster than the flash can fap
>run back and into the first door
>barricade it with everything i can
>gatherer stars pounding on the door
>start crying to myself and puke on the floor, all on webcam
>never play Amnesia drunk again

Its ironic how your memory failed you in a game called Amnesia.

See this is why I cant get into RPG like my GF.

>"and then anon sees something so frightening he drops the candle, covering his eyes and sobbing"
me: "uhhhhh... i go into next room"
> "You remember your friend and go back for him, bu-"
me: "hold the **** up! Dont tell me whats i'd do. That detracts from the realism of.. our fabricated reality of a haunting that WILL lead to our demise. This is stupid i'm going to go play a video game"
Just not my cup of tea.

It's roleplaying dude. In this scenario, the group of three moves forward out of fear, and attempts to go back due to camaraderie. If you're just going to say "I go to the next room," it's equivalent to skipping dialogue in games. You're just going through the motions like a PoS

Only a bad DM tells you what your character does.
User avatar #7 to #5 - rogueninja (12/10/2015) [-]
It looked more like he remembers on his own rather than the GM telling him to go back.

Well, I have a half of a story at least.

>Be GMing a D&D sess with some friends
> 4 in total, got a human bard, a rouge doppleganger (I let them pick certain creature races if they wanted to spice things up), a warrior cat person, and a human wizard
>I made a character as well, mainly to serve as a starting point for the plot but also should someone decide to DM in my place for an evening (Like if I couldn't make it to the session or something)
>He's a skeleton sorcerer with a slime familiar living in his skull
>Anyways
>Start up the campaign, bit of early game shenanigans, no real happenings yet
>Cat person asked for a room to stay the night in, inn keep refuses
>Tells the cat person there's been trouble with a group of goblins who moved into a cave just outside of the village limits and they're not taking people in because of it, not until some reinforcements from the next town over come and help clean them out
>Cat person delivers news to the rest of the party, they agree to go clear out the cave if they can have a room to sleep in
>Skeleton me joins in 'cause **** it basically.
>Next day comes, the 5 of them set off to go exterminate some goblins
>Get to the cave, all seems very quiet for a supposed goblin infested cave
>Go inside, being sneaky like, lookin' around for clues and ****
>No goblins in sight, cave just goes deeper and deeper into the earth
>No sound except for the party. Wind isn't even blowing
>Bard figures that sumthin aint rite, suggests doppleganger goes ahead to check for them
>'Ganger agrees and sneaks on ahead with the party not far behind
>Cave splits off into two directions after so far down, a small side chute and the main cavern
>Light coming out of the side chute, 'ganger decides to lead us that way
>Found the goblins at last! 5 of 'em, all huddled around a fire, talking in whispers and being very jittery
>No one makes any checks of any kind, they all unanimously think "Finally, GOBLINS!" and the cat person lunges in for an attack
>Goblins look up, completely stunned, start to scream and scramble
>Horrid goblin screams of fear, 'causes the party to make a will save
>Most get through, but the wizard and skele me failed, so it's 3 on 5
>Goblins are fighting pretty desperately but get over powered when the two spell slingers get involved
>5 dead goblins later and a bit o' looting, the group decides they should go in deeper to see if there's any other goblins about
>Head back out of the chute and go back down the main cavern, getting a torch or two from the now dead goblins
>Bit of exploring later and they come to a small cavern at the back of the cave
>Goblins everywhere in this small room, 10 of them in total, and 1 hobgoblin in the center
>Gob-gang heard the commotion and are prepared to fight, again no one in the group makes any special checks and go in on the attack
>No one notices how desperately and fearfully the goblins fight, how little will power they even have to fight in the first place
>Only hint I give them is when it's all said in done that the confrontation was a easier than it should have been
>Party about to kill the hobgoblin, when it starts to beg to be killed, or tortured, or enslaved even
>Just doesn't want to be sent back across the sea where he came from
>Finally the bard picks up something really fishy's goin' on and does a couple of rolls, convinces the hobgoblin to talk to them
>Tells the party he and his small herd of goblins had fled from something called "The Machine Orthodoxy"
>Gives horrific accounts of experimentation and monstrosities that made them all weep at night from fear
>Again, begs to be killed or enslaved but not sent back across the sea
>Party ends up enslaving him and leaves the cave on a sober note

And that is where the campaign ended unfortunately when RL ****** the group over with work schedules and such. Damn shame too, was shaping up to be a fun story.

so... that was it? I was expecting SOMETHING, ANYTHING. This was just a huge letdown at the end.
#10 to #9 - anon (12/10/2015) [-]
it doesn't have to be defined as long as it terrorizes

it totally ruins the story if the DM says "oh yeah the house was a demon/chutulu the whole time"
#16 to #10 - funnyhat (12/11/2015) [-]
I meant i expected something to happen, some sort of action, thw way it is it is like a joke without a punchline, at least to me

**** man, I wish we still had the /x/ archive. I had so many good threads bookmarked. I still wish I had the one with youtube scary videos, police recordings, pilot recordings, dashcam footage, etc. Just now thinking about the Rhode Island concert fire gives me goosebumps.
User avatar #17 to #13 - ljxjlos (12/21/2015) [-]
/x/ was fun while it lasted. Last few times I went there it was boring as hell.
