My PTU game in progress part 1
So for a few weeks now, I have been participating in Pokemon Tabletop United, which is pretty much the Pokemon equivalent of DnD. We are not extremely far in, but I thought it would be entertaining to talk about events as they happen. So day one.
>
>DM sets up the campaign.
>Apparently the setting is a medieval Game of Thrones like setup. There are no pokeballs, but capture stones
>Literally the same thing as a pokeball if they were magic
>Also made up something called capture collars. Basically captures them but they follow you around instead, also increases loyalty faster
>The group of trainers gathers in the town of Sleepwell at a local inn run by Innkeeper Joy
>One trainer named Zek (pronounced Zeak) is a 10 year old who has been bed ridden their whole life until somehow waking up with aura powers and becoming healed
>Now he wishes to explore the world and find all the stuff he missed.
>Another trainer named Charlie is a 12 year old who wants to be the best jester in all the land
>Has a strange obsession using the word “Hop” when naming his mon, but get to that later
>The third party member is a 14 year old named Austin
>He ran away from home because his parents are ****
>He wants tobetheverybest.jpg
>Finally my character Mountaineer Dan
>He is the oldest in the group at 23
>Thought it would make more sense than sending a ten year old out in world filled with godlike animals
>He is a survivalist that has spent most of his life outdoors and climbing mountains
>I’m just assuming that I am Zek and Charlie’s uncle and that we found Austin
>Everyone in the group refers to him as Uncle Dan and I apparently get final say in all decisions.
>Sweet
>We all got a starter mon
>They could be anything so long as they evolve at least once and don’t become a pseudo legendary
>Zek chose Riolu
>Didn’t name it
>Pretty much just uses it normally
>Charlie chose a Skiddo
>Named it Hoppy
>Hop related name
>He loves to ride it into battle
>Austin chose Growlith
>Named it Argos
>Uses it normally
>Uncle Dan chose Roggenrola
>Named it Rumble
>He is always ready to Roggenrumble
>After that setup, we get to business
>Apparently we are the last trainers in Sleepwell
>Everyone else went west or north for adventure
>Being the smart guys we are, we go east to train
>So we head east into the forest
>Five Pidoves attack
>Yawn
>I got a rock type afterall
>Learn a horrible lesson
>Most pokemon have a movement between 4-6 spaces
>Rumble has a movement of 2
>There was no way he could make it to the birds before everyone else killed them
>Uncle Dan has a brilliant idea
>Uncle Dan used Rock Throw!
>Toss Rumble at the nearest bird
>Super Effective
>Puts Rumble in the middle of the fight before everyone else
>Dispatch the birds quickly
>No one catches one because we collectively agreed that Pidoves suck
>Woohoo pokemon level up
>Travel through the forest some more and find a bunch of rocks and logs on the ground
>Uncle Dan uses his amazing grown up strength to lift the rocks and logs for the youngsters
>Find a Weedle under one
>Austin want
>Tries to befriend rather than battle it
>Failing miserably
>Dan suggest throwing a rock at it
>It works well for Dan
>Keeps trying to befriend it
>Still failing because it’s a ******* worm
>Dan says throw a rock at it
>Explain he means a capture stone
>First try capture success
>Names it Sting
>Rock chucking is always the answer
>Find money under a rock
>Uncle Dan is a responsible role model and tells the kids to leave it.
>Tells them all to grab rocks instead.
>Go to next area
>A small pond with three Buneary near it
>Charlie want
>Nobody else want
>Dan says throw a rock
>Ignores him and tries to befriend one by performing a tumbling act
>Actually works somehow
>Catches it and names it Sir Hoppington De Rollo III
>Another hop related name
>Proceeds to use it to beat up the other two Buneary
>Brutal
>Everyone watches
>Dan sees a Corphish in the pond
>Dan want
>Try to sneak up on it
>Fails because he’s a burly mountain man in a pond
>Tries to run away
>Time to use the secret weapon
>Rock Throw!
>Follow up with a Tackle from Rumble
>It’s almost down
>Uses bubble
>Takes out half of Rumble’s health
>Dan want it more now
>A capture stone is not good enough for this guy
>Pull out the collar and grapple the crustacean
>A few pinches later a Capture success
>Name him José
>I wish to someday get him a sombrero
Thus ends our first session. More to come later.
