Jeremy and the crit
> so my bud was DMing a level 6 game with me and korgoth
> its just us two: im playing a noncombat artificer (based off an expert i played a while back, was supposed to just be a shop owner) and korgoth's playing... korgoth the barbarian
> so we invade the assassin stronghold trying to save korgoth's dad
> and i use tactical level 1 infusion (light) on pebble to reveal 4 ******* assassins and a wizard
> well, they dont get sneak attack or anything
> but the big bad, at the back of the room, casts hysterical laughter
> korgoth fails his will save
> so he's rolling around on the floor laughing, and the assassins are just kicking him around
> meanwhile, im 20 feet out of the door
> they dont know i even exist
> and i sit down and start casting an infusion i really really like
> "blast rod": you take a stick, and make it a rod with 6 d8s that you can shoot at people as a ray
> the problem with 9/10 infusions is that it takes a full minute to cast them
> so for 6 rounds korgoth gets pummeled
> and finally i finish
> i stand up, stick in hand, point it at the big bad
> and fire all 6 d8's
> roll to hit...
> nat 20
> its a ray
> it can crit
> roll to confirm, and i ******* do
> so i fill him with 52 points of damage in a standard action as a 6th level construction worker
> he gibs
> the assassins are ******* freaked, i pass my bluff saying "there's more where that came from" and they run off
> it was amazing
> later informed by DM that it was a CR 11 encounter, supposed to be "unbeatable"
> not for jeremy it's not
and that is how jeremy retained the title of critmaster (like, every other roll was a crit in his original game) and craftlord (can i hear "making a ******* ballista at level 3"?).
