I'm working on a little adventure site I call the Isle of Mist. A small mystery island filled with magic and old ruins.

The idea is for the players to have some magic support powers. Powers that are useful, but not directly damaging. I have a few but I would like some more if anyone has any good suggestions.

Here are mine

Hunter:
They have an eye for details and can track creatures through normal means or by picking up on traces of their aura left behind. This is made easier if they find something connected to that creature, like hair or a treasured object.

Caller:
Can establish a link with another person through touch. The linked people can send thoughts back and forth to communicate. More experienced telepaths can make "group calls". Telepathy can't penetrate too much matter (sheets of lead or thick concrete walls), and the distance is limited.

Climber:
Can easily spot handholds on walls or trees and they have increased balance. They climb faster than most, and the more experienced ones are almost like spiders, sticking to walls and even ceilings.

Smoker:
Can make harmless smoke appear around themselves or make glass fog over. The more experienced ones can make cameras and sensors malfunction, and they can change the colour of the smoke.

Amphibian:
Can breathe underwater, and moves faster in water. They eventually learn how to extend this ability to others in the vicinity.

Seer:
They have darkvision and can "zoom" with their eyes. They can project their senses of sight and hearing to another point in space they can see, and use those senses as though standing there.

Chameleon:
They have a limited ability to go unnoticed / blend into their surroundings. They are also unnaturaly silent.

Leaper:
They can jump much higher and further than an ordinary human. They always land on their feet, and can survive falls from higher places.

Walker:
They have the ability to walk on any surface without breaking through, be it water, snow or a pitfall trap.

Mimic:
Can mimic any sound or voice they have heard before, and mannerism and writing, too if they observe the one they intend to mimic for a while.

Translation: Snarky comment.

Your penmanship is way better than mine, there's just something about cursive that I find really hard to read. Then again, my handwriting is like a retarded mix of print and half-cursive.

**deathstare used "*roll picture*"**
**deathstare rolled image** Yo, you better add a hell of a lot of Easter eggs and references to get this **** kicking. Also, a battle arena or something pvp. Maybe toss a penis in there somewhere.

Thanks for the picture. It's the sexiest thing I've seen since that one time I read teletubbie scat porn.

I always do a few references, but I try to make them subtle. The arena is probably going to be a thing somewhere.

That picture is going to give me nightmares it gets worse the more I look at it

You should create the books that link you to other worlds, and then hide pages of the books linking to the worlds you banished your evil sons to in a bunch of worlds. The player then has to find all the missing pages and decide which brother to release from his magical prison. But the trick is: both brothers are bad! You have to find the missing page to the WHITE linking book and use it to enter the realm of the creator of the linking books.

That is one idea, but I already have the basic plot figured out
User avatar #22 to #20 - fatminion ONLINE (11/26/2015) [-]
that's the plot from the computer game Myst
User avatar #24 to #22 - windbound [OP]ONLINE (11/26/2015) [-]
Ah, I haven't played it

totally breakthrough game back in the '90s that brought point-and-click/adventure/puzzle games back into style:

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Myst
store.steampowered.com/app/63660/

It's just funny you call your game "Isle of Mist" and every world is basically an island in Myst, and the actual name of the island where you start is called Myst. So it just stroke me as funny.

I've neve beenr very fond of point-and-click games, though this one seems to at least be interesting

You could make a power linked to listening to people or objects...
If they focus they could have their hearing increased by a certain extend for x time. Could be useful against stalkers or for stalkers.
Optinally you could also let them understand a foreign language they don't know with it for x time but not be able to speak it back.

An ability I always find fun to think about is levitate. So for example you can levitate up to 2 meter high, and move around same speed as overland, however i think it will rule out the leaper and walker skill of you.

Other misc ability what could also leave to exploids would be the ability to change clothes you have in your invantory with you in like a standard action (10 seconds or so) to play dress up. Useful for rogues who need to disguise themselves, for vampires to protect from sun if it comes trough the mist, or fabulous characters.
User avatar #32 to #31 - windbound [OP]ONLINE (11/27/2015) [-]
I like the idea of object memory.
The hearing bit is kinda covered by the Seer, who can project both his hearing and sight, (and I am now considering smell) to another point in space.
I also have a so called "Linguist" in the making, but he needs a great deal of revision before I'm satisfied.

Yeah, I'll stay away from levitation for now.

That would be interesting. I imagine like the little jump-and-spin when you change clothes in the sims

Sorry, must have overread then, since i thought it only gave dark vision and improve hearing, but good luck with further ideas for your campaign.

Thanks, adn thanks for your input!

How about the ability to move dirt, only after eating an entire wooden broom.
User avatar #11 to #10 - windbound [OP]ONLINE (11/26/2015) [-]
Yeah, maybe not. But the idea of eating wood to fuel some power or other is interesting. I'm going to have to think on that one

that map is very similar to the one from Dishonored
#23 to #18 - windbound [OP]ONLINE (11/26/2015) [-]
I've never actually looked at the map from Dishonored. I got the basic idea of an adventure Island while I explored Hashima Island on Google Maps. The whole island is on streetview, and it looks entirely post-apocalyptic. www.google.no/maps/place/Hashima+Island,+Japan/@32.7685876,128.9987335,5572m/data=!3m1!1e3!4m2!3m1!1s0x3515469d4b782379:0xa8d331536ecbeea4
The shape is basde on this, the Kaba Island, which is close by-ish.

Mention me with updates on this. I'm interested.
User avatar #21 to #17 - windbound [OP]ONLINE (11/26/2015) [-]
Sure, I'll try to keep you posted
User avatar #1 - sptnfouroneseven (11/26/2015) [-]
Giving a brief look over, how will these be determined? Random allocation via rolls, would it be chosen by the player? Chosen by you? Gained through the story? What kind of setting is it? Fantasy/ Futuristic?
User avatar #2 to #1 - windbound [OP]ONLINE (11/26/2015) [-]
I haven't decided how to choose yet. I'm thinking it's up to the players, but either they all roll or they all choose.
I'm thinking fantasy set in modern time. Or a resurgence of magic into our modern world.
User avatar #3 to #2 - sptnfouroneseven (11/26/2015) [-]
Picking them would allow players to play to class/character strengths, while rolling adds in a bit of randomness and maybe they can be changed by a god or deity. As for the setting, the latter could be interesting, maybe after some sort of catastrophe most technology is useless and magic starts coming around again.
User avatar #4 to #3 - windbound [OP]ONLINE (11/26/2015) [-]
I'm planning to play with fudge dice, and maybe use the FATE system.

The idea of the setting that I have for now is this:
The world of magic and the our world were separated long ago, but now they become one again, and the magical energies mostly knock out our technology. The Isle of Mists is part of the world of magic, lying somewhere in the Atlantic. The PCs are on a plane from the US to Europe when the merge happens, and they crash in the sea, washing ashore on the Isle.
User avatar #5 to #4 - sptnfouroneseven (11/26/2015) [-]
Ah so it's an adventure/survival type campaign. I have no personal expirence with any fudge dice or a Fate system, but it sounds interesting! Hope you have fun.
User avatar #6 to #5 - windbound [OP]ONLINE (11/26/2015) [-]
Yeah, and I hope to throw in a little mystery / puzzle-solving too.

Thanks! I haven't tried either. I leant about them a few days ago, on another FJ post, and I think it sounds like an easy-to-grasp system that can be lots of fun.
Of course, I also need to find players, but that's a problem for another day.
