I was running houseful's Shadowrun (since my world was very different; no magic, more nation less megacomp, proxy wars proxy wars aargh_} The was a homebrew.
But yeah, when I run cyberpunk, I play up the downsides of being heavily barged_ I try to encourage people to get in their character' s heads; being machineporn makes you
when you wake up at 4 AM and your meat is shivering because your metal is so still and cold and your audio pickups are feeding you a dripping faucet and someone crying three apartments away,
and you try to get up but it takes just half a second for the neural links to warm up and for that half second before you can move you feel what you are, a quad amputee, a shivering, mutilated torso
with dead iron screwed and clamped onto your stumps. And then you get up and get a drink of water.
Managed to get my players to keep much of their powered down by calling for spot and initiative checks in normal situations. One especially twitchy character almost blew away a coup
of kids playing stickball ["Awareness check! You hear a crack, there' s something flying towards you, T o' clock high, small and fast! Initiative! Now, another awareness checka") before he realized he
shouldn' t be walking around with his wired reflexes on all the time.
