As a DM and a player, our table is pretty good at getting a bit OP without MinMaxing. We all play smart and tend to be rather lucky with out loot. And tend to be pretty damn good at recruiting valuable meat shields. The current party at Lvl5-6 Killed a Yeti in one round and an Adult white Dragon in 3.
Any ideas on a monster that could endanger a party like ours without flatout killing us?

The answer is simple: have NPC's attack intelligently. Google "Tucker's Kobolds" (no, really, read it!). Any manner of foe can be a challenge if it isn't just sent haphazardly at a party of murderers (which most parties are tbh). Have them use actual tactics and strategies instead of attacking as a horde for no good reason.
The GM always has the capability to make something a challenge.

well in pf yeti is CR 4, so it's ok to kill it in one turn with a lvl 5-6 group. Adult white dragon in 3 is good though, I don't know how many players are in your group, but it should be a deathly encouter for lvl 6 if played well. I mean they don't have acess to fly, so he can dick around with his breath weapon from the sky.
with no more info on the party, I can only suggest to try the outsiders, they have lots of spell-like and heavy DRs. Some have pretty nasty abilities too.

Really? Cr4? DM had it chasing down our wagon like we had to run or die. Didn't think it was a bluff, just thought we nuked it from 2/3 crits.
We had a 3 man team, plus NPCs. NPCs are desperately underpowered because DM doesn't like me having an army a story for another time but end up being pretty good distractions, especially if we can set up a trap/ambush while they're dying.

You can do some pretty interesting stuff with Will-O'-Wisp's at that level.
