LONE GODS

The remaining gods within the Ebberon setting are considerably less traditional, and even lack a pantheon that they belong to. Many of these 'lone gods' are worshipped by specific sects of people, though a few of them are large monotheistic religions. None of the following gods have relations among the other gods in the same way the Sovereign Host and Dark Six do, but they are still important gods with large followings.

The Silver Flame

"Burn the corruption and taint of evil from all Eberron. Other gods have begun the creation, but it is the Silver Flame, by searing wickedness and darkness from their imperfect world, that must complete it."

The Silver Flame is an organization dedicated to ridding the world of evil, in the plainest terms. Unlike other faiths, the Silver Flame does not claim that it created the world, not that it was the first religion. However, it does claim that it will be the last religion, for once all evil has been purged, too will the other gods, for they contain traces of corruption as well. The Silver Flame does not tolerate evil, but it is also not without reason. They believe in a hierarchy of evils, and lesser evils are left alone until the greater ones are dealt with. This belief does not mean the Silver Flame sponsors evil, but it will not object to simple characters with an evil alignment helping them destroy a great unnatural evil such as lycanthropes.

The Blood of Vol

"Look not to the skies, nor to the depths below, nor even to the distant past or future. Seek the divine within, for the blood is the life, and in its call can be heard the promise of eternal life. One has but to listen."

Set apart from other religions by the lack of a actual god, the church of Vol instead believes that divinity comes from within, rather than from mysterious figure in the skies. They refuse to acknowledge the presence of any "god" on principle. They scorn the worshipers of the Sovereign Host and Dark Six for being misguided fools. The church of Vol believes in the power of the physical world. Why worship some distant god when magic is very real and can be commanded by mortals alone? The church of Vol originated from one of the dragonmarks, the mark of death. The church came about after the destruction of House Vol, who alone bore the mark of death. The only 'surviving' member of House Vol, the half-green-dragon-lich Erandis Vol is known as Vol, Queen of the Dead to her followers and leads the religion.

The Lord of Blades

"We were made to rule Eberron."

To understand the significance of The Lord of Blades requires some non-religious lore. In Ebberon, there are a race of creatures known as Warforged. These mechanical creatures were created in the last war, but have since gained sentience and have been freed from their slavery as tools of war. Not knowing what to do with their freedom, the warforged have taken many different paths.

The Lord of Blades is one of those options, his origins are shrouded in mystery, but he is a very real being. A warforged monster to those outside of the Blades, the Lord of Blades' religion isn't worshiped like a faith in that there are holy days and rites their members must participate in. The Blades pray to their Lord, but the primary directive the Blades follow is to advance the warforged race. They view themselves as superior to the 'fleshborn' races of Ebberon and slowly strive for dominance. The Lord of Blades resides within the Mournland, gathering followers for the time being. Woe be to the fleshed races of Ebberon should he turn his attention to them.

The Undying Court

"Existence is a spiritual journey requiring far longer than a single lifetime. Only the Undying can ever truely learn what great wonders lie at its end."

The elves who reside on the island of Aerenal have a peculiar religion that has inspired fear in many within more civilized lands. Not because their religion is innately terrifying, but it is rather a failure to comprehend what the Undying Court entails. The Aerenal believe that faith is too large and complex a goal for a single lifetime, and in that sense, they call upon their ancestors as religious as family heads. Most commonly as spirits summoned back from the realm of the dead, but if an Aerenal elf has proved himself exceptionally pious he may be invited to join the Undying. The Undying are a group of undead elves, preserved in undeath to guide future generations and act as a very real symbol of divinity. Due to the nature of their religion, the Aerenal do not fear death. Rather, death is simply a step on their journey to spiritual enlightenment.

Vulkoor

"There are two types of creatures in the world. There are the hunters, and the prey."

Drow in Ebberon live nearly exclusively as tribes within the deep jungles of Xen'drik. There, they have developed a religion to the god Vulkoor, god of Scorpions. He is worshiped as one of three aspects, each with similarities and difference.

His most popular aspect to worship is that of Vulkoor, the Hunter. This aspect of Vulkoor encourages tribes to be self-sufficient, providing shelter and food for themselves. Most tribes who worship the Hunter aspect as nomadic.

The second most popular aspect is that of Vulkoor, the Wrathful. Those who worship this aspect fear Vulkoor, seeing him as the entity that caused the downfall of giant civilization in Xen'drik and wish to avoid similar retribution. They are fiercely territorial and practice living sacrifice to their god.

The third and least popular aspect of Vulkoor is that of Vulkoor the Cunning. Those who worship this final aspect believe that the entirety of Xen'drik is to belong to the drow. They are fiercly xenophobic and often assault any who would trespass in their jungle homes.

All forms of worship revere creatures known as the Scorrow--gigantic half-scorpion half-drow monstrosities with terrifying strength. The scorrow hunt all creatures, intelligent ones included, and are feared as children of Vulkoor. The blessed of Vulkoor may find themselves transformed into scorrow.
