DnD Campaign Crafting For All

Im in the brain storming idea for a DnD campaign(im going to custom make) The basic idea is that the party is part of a large group sent to a Large island, to deal wtih the threat that is there, They barely make it on the island, as the one of(if not the only) party to survive the trip(island is surrounded by let's say dragons and other monsters, protecting the skies and the seas of the island, to deter people from entering or leaving) I will give them a basic idea of how to go about it(If they want to leave, they need to find a way to deal/kill the 'dagons' and make sure they have a working ship to survive the trip leaving the island, This will be the ONLY way they can leave the quickest without a very high chance of instant death) I want opinions, Ideas and possible encounters, locations, even creatures and such, If I like your idea, I will encompass it into the campaign, and give you full credit, I may open a google document so people can leave more info. The basic theme is think along the lines of more twisted and horror(System is pathfinder, Tech is basic firearms guns wise) If you guys want to help, Cool, If not, Thumb this down into oblivion, And I will never ask this again, I will update if this see's enough interest. I will be here, Awaiting any input, I hope you guys can help me create a truly desolate, and dangerous campaign.....And if I get it complete, I will officially upload the campaign for all to use(after one successful game is done with it)For Free of course.

I also posted the same exact blurb in the tabletop gaming board.

If you wanna go with a creepy/horror approach, don't do it halfway. Atmosphere is pretty much everything when it comes to making your players feel the way you want them to. For example, picking one character in the party and messing with them constantly is a good way to get things going, such as, whenever that character sees their reflection (In a mirror, lake or what have you) their reflection copies their movements about a half second too slow, almost as if it's watching to see what happens before it mimics the character. Other things like having a character have these weird dreams of the party dying in grisly detail throughout the week, only to find eventually that they are the one murdering the party in their dreams, or having someone in the party make a difficult perception check in a room in an building and noticing that the wood in that room in particular is much, much older than the rest of it. As far as like creatures go, aberrations make for a good horror starting point. Cursed items are another fun way to go. My favorite one has to be a Scarab of Death. It looks like a beneficial brooch or pendant, but if it is held by a living creature for one round in combat, or one minute out of combat, it turns into a horrible burrowing beetlelike creature. The thing tears through any leather or cloth, burrows into flesh, and reaches the victim’s heart in 1 round, causing death. A DC 25 Reflex save allows the wearer to tear the scarab away before it burrows out of sight, but he still takes 3d6 points of damage. The beetle then returns to its scarab form. Placing the scarab in a container of wood, ceramic, bone, ivory, or metal prevents the monster from coming to life and allows for long-term storage of the item.

I think this would be a great time to implement the unskilled weapon perks/bonuses for using a rock you found on the ground vs a club that you made.

at lower lvls anyways

Depends on which way you want to go. I enjoy emphasis on cultures and exploration personally. Have a reason why these dragons or monsters are defending the island. Dragons dont do **** for free. Maybe the dragons are defending an item that can turn the players into a dragonborn or equivalent and the dragons are jealous of sharing their power.

Which races are on the island if any? Have they been their long enough to settle and build towns? Are the dearves there going insane because they cant mine because they may hit water and drown?

Id suggest developing some unique beasts and flora to give some interesting opportunities. Bows made from mushroom trees or studded leather armor from lizard hide and bones, both from the same beast.

Well as I said, I used 'dragons' as the first flying deadly beast I could think of, That's just a placeholder text, It doesn't have to be dragons.

Alright. Im a huge fan of just drakes, dragons lite. It could be any beast flying around. Why not make one that dosent make sense? Beasts that belong on the ground but hop from cloud to cloud like goats on mountains?

Well that would be interesting, but this is going to be more on the end of horror or groteque, So a goat of flying death, Not so much.

Oh ok i must have missed when you wanted horror. Blue skeletal dragons flying through charcoal black storm clouds breathing lightning could be scary

I always wanted to make a DnD campaign based on Lost Planet 2.

Lost Planet 2 was the best game on the PS3.

And it'd be perfect for a DnD campaign.

As long as you include the ridiculously huge monsters and that EPIC train boss from the desert. Well, you don't NEED the Train Boss, but god damn, that was a fun boss.

You need an interesting and fun or dramatic way to get them to the island. I suggest Magical Trebuchet.

Hear me out; party steps into a field that nulls gravity and inertia, first they are shot froma catapult, then their bubble hits multiple mid-air force runes. Then they extend the wings.

Yes, it's crazy. CRAZY ENOUGH TO WORK
