Its not too hard to play D&D, I already run 3 games for pretty much only people on FJ, and it is easy to find people who want to play, and I love DMing. All you have to do is find the right people
This is pretty interesting, combat doesn't seem THAT difficult and the game master having the ability to totally **** some one over sounds pretty fun as well. Can't wait to see what else D&D has to offer.
Just sent all five guides to my group. We are doing a one session campaign with new people so this should help them answer questions and make the session start a whole lot faster. Thanks for the time and effort you put into this.
Ive played DnD 3.5 for about 5 years now (as player and DM) and this is an excellent guide thus far, keep at it. I even showed some new peeps of my group your guide and they like it too so far.
I enjoy 5th, and the elegant Advantage system, but there are a few things I like in 3.5 and Pathfinder that I carry over, e.g. I prefer the separate AC's for different situations.
Best thing about dnd is how flexible to rules are so you can mix and match anything you want really. I just can't turn back because i hated picking feats at lv 1
I love DnD and am ALWAYS willing to play if there is a FJ group running, please send me a PM and you have yourself a player with extensive knowledge. As for explaining the basics, its MUCH easier to explain through speaking rather than through type, just jump into a game and go. You will learn much faster and easier that way than trying to understand it all with text and a sheet with numbers.
This is a very good tutorial, as a DM of a 3.5 game its hard enough getting everyone to learn all this **** . Im looking forward to you going over the not-so-standard combat actions. Its actually incredible how many rules it has just in the core books.
For anybody who doesn't feel like shelling out 50 dollars each for a player handbook, a monster manual, and a DM's guide, this website www.d20srd.org/ has pretty much everything from core 3.5 d&d
I can't believe I used to live without FRP before... I rarely even play video-games anymore, FRP is the way to get people together, open up beer, have fun, met my ex gf that way as well... Only thing is, we're playing Dark Heresy, a Warhammer campaing, sooo... You die and lose limbs every other session (our GM is a dick )
That first picture is actually from a Web RPG called Legend Legacy of the Dragons which is a game which allows you to pick A Magmar soldier (the magma looking creatures) and humans. Each faction has a Legendary Dragon which represents it.
