By power level of card, yes. By interesting mechanics, I don't think so, but close. But, I honestly don't see how anyone likes him as a character.
Unfortunately, Wizards' market research says he's the most popular, so he'll continue to be center stage in the story for the foreseeable future.

I wasn't just talking about JTMS when I said by power level. 4 out of the six Jaces that they've printed have seen serious tournament play in their Standard. 2 of those still see play in Modern. One of the two that doesn't only doesn't because it's banned. And 2 of them were good enough to break into Legacy. Something rare for Planeswalkers. The only other Planeswalker who comes close to having that much tournament viability across multiple cards is Tezzeret, because both of his cards saw Standard play, original is a key piece of a Vintage combo deck, and Agent of Bolas is Modern and Legacy. But they're both much narrower than any of the competitive Jaces.

You know Liliana and Garruk and Jace and Gideon,
You know Chandra and Elspeth and Nicol and Sorin,
But can you recall
The most based Planeswalker of all?
Tibalt the fiend-blooded Planeswalker
had a very ****** plus one
and if you ever saw it
you would want to eat a gun.
All of the other Planeswalkers
used to laugh and call him names
They wouldn't let poor Tibalt
play in literally any games
I'd keep going, but Tibalt doesn't get a happy ending

He's my second favorite because he was my first legendary and I played elder dragon highlander with him waaaay back when kamigawa was new so he set up my color combinations. but I haven't gotten to a point in the books where he appears yet, I just finished the cycle with Gerrard and the weatherlight and all that jazz.

Sorin is literally so powerful he just created a ******* angel from nothing which itself was powerful enough that the magic and religion of his entire ******* plane is pretty much powered off of it, dude is the second oldest living planeswalker with only nico bolas being older. He gives no ***** and takes no **** .
>Was the second oldest until FRF happened.
Also, Ugin is not an Elder Dragon. The original Elder Dragons were a very specific group composed of Nicol Bolas, Vaevictis Asmadi, Chromium, Arcades Sabboth, and Palladia-Mors. It's not just about being old, they were all rulers of their domain Until they were hunted down and killed by Bolas Kinda like the new Elder Dragons from DTK. Who also rule their domain.

I don't consider a character truly dead if he can talk to people in their heads to make them time travel to the past to orchestrate the events that prevent him from being killed.
