I think d&dexplain has a couple of posts explaining the basics of D&D. I suggest looking at those, since they are a decent starting point. Then, try and find a patient DM who would be willing to help guide you.
Well if you're anything like me, it's you, a couple of guys who kind of know what they're doing, and then there's one dude who really ******* knows what everything is, and basically you just listen to him.
I've just got a few friends into dnd, and we're all completely clueless, dndexplain helped me a bit with understanding **** , maybe he can help you
if "kinda want to learn" describes your motivitation, don't bother
you guessed wrong
I couldn't give less than a **** about your situation
I'm telling you, D&D isn't something light, if you really, really want to know, then go ahead, but if you "kinda sorta" want to know, tough titties

It can be something light though. You don't need to know everything about everything. Knowing enough about combat rolls, skills checks, feats, and character creation can pretty much coast you through for the most part, with a helpful DM.
