His ulti makes him hop randomly between different enemies nearby. The implication here is that he intended to kill them all with it, but creeps (standard enemies that you farm) were nearby as well and he jumped further and further away, effectively leaving the damsel alone
Dota is a difficult game to get good at. Even when you get good, you hit a hard plateau before getting to the next level of great. I think that's what makes Dota really cool, though. Most people who play are die-hard fans. Nothing is particularly watered down. That said, it makes the game less accessible and appealing to the general MOBA community
It's true most dota players know all the counters to each hero and each build set for the hero's and how to counter those builds it's crazy. I know one build for one character. It's fun to play Comp stomps buts it's a lot of noobs or angry pvp players who cuss out the new players and people trying to learn new hero's. The game mechanics are fairly simple but I still have a hard time with concepts like ganking and when to initiate hence why I favor ursa, a massive carry late game hero. And even though I haven't played lol friends I know do and they say it's easier to learn and farm. But I kinda like dota because it's apparently more challenging.
LoL is definitely easier. I would also argue that it's worse, but some people would see DotA as needlessly difficult and therefore worse than LoL.
One of the best things about DotA is how flexible your play-style can be. Even if you're an Intelligence early game hero, there are ways you can ensure that you do well late game. The spells and abilities are also more varied (and valuable) than LoL, so if you've got good teamwork you can pull off some crazy **** . The items are more varied, as well, and don't only serve to boost your stats. With all of these factors, you can really do well with any hero. This is unlike LoL where teams need to call what positions and champions they want before a game starts, as well as decide on a preset item build.
I agree the hero flexibility is cool. I like to see what other people are doing with some of the characters I like to use and try to get some ideas on which items to use and what attributes to apply to said hero. I'm playing with LS a little right now and I'm trying different things like dmg vs attack speed also with aghanim's scepter I try to pull off a double naix bomb but that requires some teamwork that isn't always there.
In DotA you can deny creeps, buildings, or teammates (kill them while they're low on health so your opponents don't get gold and as much xp). This is EXTREMELY important early game. It's a dance of trying to make sure your opponent can't last hit your creeps while also trying to last hit their creeps while also trying to last hit your own creeps while also trying not to get damaged yourself. In LoL, you can't deny anything.
In DotA, you lose gold if you die. Quite a significant amount. And you give your opponents a significant amount of gold when they kill you. This makes the pressure to not die much higher than in LoL, where they don't take away your gold when you die. This is one of the reasons why in DotA the snowball effect is so pronounced. People who get kills quickly gain momentum and soon dominate. People who get killed are swiftly left in the dust. Every action you take has greater consequences compared to LoL. Also you have to buy teleports back to base, whereas in LoL it's just an ability you have.
Speaking of abilities, in LoL you not only regenerate much more mana, but you have much more mana compared to how much a typical ability uses. In DotA it's not uncommon to have an ability that drains most of your mana, and it's not uncommon to find yourself low. Again, each action has more value. You don't spam spells like in LoL. You have to calculate each move, and if you miss one spell it's a tragedy. The trade-off is that typically abilities in DotA are stronger, so if you successfully pull them off you can wreck **** . Also if you do well, late game mana rarely becomes and issue because you've leveled and gained items that help replenish your resources.
In DotA there's a lot more lane manipulation potential, as well. You can block your creeps, pull them towards Neutral creeps in the forests, backdoor them, etc. Towers are way stronger in DotA, though, and have a lot of HP. If you're in a tower's range while attacking its team member, the tower will automatically start attacking you. In LoL the towers will actually kill all NPCs first before attacking any champions (heroes). And, because towers are way stronger in DotA, you really want to avoid being hit. Finally, in DotA your structures that allow your enemies to have mega creeps when destroyed don't respawn. In LoL, they do. So if you lost your strcture in LoL, it's okay, just grit it out and the lane can be yours again. In DotA, if you lose it, tough **** . The best you can do is push other lanes super hard, or take on their mega creeps all the way to their structures and get your own mega creeps to balance it out. Basically, tensions are much higher in lanes.
TL;DR: I guess that's the overall difference between the two. In DotA, everything has greater impact over how the game will progress. Things are much more stressful that way, but I think they payout is worth the experience.
Just to add a wee addendum to you here. Some HEROES can also deny themselves or other heroes that are under some heavy DoTs like Venos Ult and QoPs dagger.
A system that is great for annoyin' the livin' piss out of your enemies.
Also nice to see someone defendin' DotA with reason rather than "IT'S JUST BETTER THAN LOL CUZ I SAY SO"
okay so it seems like i made the right choice with dota. though im sure you can ******** up in lol. i like the feeling of gettin a triple kill or something when you're well fed. as ursa (my exclusive character for quite a while) raging and tanking as **** with overpower id stomp atleast 2 or 3 of the group (cuz the bots like to group up for some reason) and if there is some good disablers i can hit the rampage. it sounds like DotA can be a lot more rewarding and yet a lot more punishing. which i know sucks ass when you're behind.
thanks for all your information, and ust wondering who's your fav hero?
"More punishing, more rewarding" yeah that sums it up nicely.
It's been a while since I've played DotA actually cuz of college. I used to play the OG version when it was just a WarCraft map made by Ice Frog. Back then my favorite was Phoenix, but that's because he was relatively new (I like experimenting with new heroes) and also OP as **** . Well not so OP because his abilities drained a ton of your health and mana (moreso than it does now), but the damage output was ridic. When DotA 2 came out from Valve... and they patched up Phoenix... I guess I didn't have any more favorites. I liked playing with different heroes depending on my mood. But the most fun off the top of my head are Broodmother, Alchemist, Clintz, Malfurion, Anti-mage, and Leshrac. They're all really different, and I like them each for different reasons.
i've played pheonix before and shes real cool if you can get the swing her. ******* ult is awesome, saved my ass and ***** theirs at the same time.
Right on bro. thanks again.
