No it wasn't, they didn't find it. Douglas Adams himself said that that wasn't the question, the whole point of the scene with the scrabble tiles is to show that they cant find the question because the Golgafrinchans landed and ****** it all up.

We also know they didnt find it because in the 3rd book Prak, the guy who knows everything thats true or something, says that its impossible for the answer and the question to be known in the same universe, therefore noone knows it so they havent found it.

No, that scene at the end of book 2 was to show that they couldnt find the question from Arthur because the Golgafrinchans had ****** that **** up, because funnily enough, 9 times 6 does not equal 42, and nowhere in the book does it mention anything to do with 13 or base 13. And Douglas Adams said it was nothing to do with base 13, and said that it wasnt the question.

Here's a quote from Douglas Adams to prove it: "The answer to this is very simple. It was a joke. It had to be a number, an ordinary, smallish number, and I chose that one. Binary representations, base thirteen, Tibetan monks are all complete nonsense. I sat at my desk, stared into the garden and thought '42 will do'. I typed it out. End of story."

Please, don't argue with me about Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy, it's my favourite series of books ever, closely followed by Lord of the Rings. I wouldn't say it if it wasn't true.

Hopefully yes, however Im not massively looking forward to it as such, simply because I always enjoy books much more than films. But yes, I shall be watching it as soon as I can.

And that's pretty sweet, I'd love to go to comic con, but living in England makes it too much of a ballache haha.

Life = Math

M=13
A=1
T=20
H=8

M+A+T+H = 42

Credit to the Hitchikers' guide to the Galaxy.

The ACTUAL reason why that episode was titled "42" was that it was shot in real-time, they had 42 minutes to save themselves and the program lasted for about 42 minutes + creds

Yes but it can't be just a coincidence that they decided 42 was an important number. I think it's a Hitchhiker's reference but I don't know. I didn't write it. :)

well, in either restaurant at the end of the universe or life the universe and everything (i don't remember which) the hitchhikers are trapped in a ship about to crash into a sun.
