In the beginning, the universe was created. This made a lot of people very angry, and has been widely regarded as a bad idea.

In the episode "The Christmas Invasion" David Tennant makes a reference to Arthur Dent, the protagonist of Douglas Adams' "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy." Even go so far as to calling him "a nice man."

Doglas Adams used to write for Doctor Who! Altogether, he wrote three Doctor Who serials starring Tom Baker as the Doctor.

Fun Fact: Douglas Adams regretted the ending of the 5th Hitchhiker's book and planned to make another one eventually, but died he before he had the chance. A 6th book was instead written by Eoin Colfer, the author of the Artemis Fowl series.

Weirdly enough, Doctor Who and THGttG are actually connected by writers. The Book and Radio Play versions of THGttG were written by a writer for Doctor Who in the Tom Baker era, Douglas Adams

Of all the places to take that quote from, you had to take the decent at best movie? The BBC original series, for instance, was better and actually followed the storyline, also the vogons looked significantly more vogonic. The movie was all right, with a few new interesting concepts in it, but there are 3 other things people could have done with instead: The radio series, the bbc original series or the books...the movie really didn't have anything on any of those.
