The doctor visits a small exploration base comprised of a few scientists and engineers. When he finds out the date he's visiting the base, he remembers news articles from the future that the base is mysteriously destroyed for an unknown reason on the very day he is visiting, but nothing seems to be going wrong yet.
However, this soon changes when one inhabitant of the small base is taken over by something in their drinking water, turning him into a 'watery-like' creature (see attached image). When the doctor goes to investigate with the base commander, two more are turned into these creatures, and the base is put on lockdown. When they start to break into the base and flood it with water, the commander decides to put the base on self-destruct (after the Doctor tells the commander that the base will have been scheduled to do so) after the rocket's destroyed. Before it can self-destruct, however, the Doctor manages to get his TARDIS and teleport the only three un-infected inhabitants of the base safely to earth.
By doing this, he intends to change the future by saving the base's commander, but to prevent the future from changing, she kills herself. The other two survivors reveal through the news the details of the tragedy on Mars, giving public knowledge of the dangers of the waters on Mars.

That one actually didn't scare me that much. It was creepy, but it was fine. Maybe because it had a happy ending....that and Captain Jack was in it.

Captain Jack is always brilliant., and he is just oh so beautiful.

I just remember listening to the radio the night after that episode and I thought I heard the kids voice of the radio. Freaked the fuck out. Maybe not my proudest moment.

Honestly, the only part I found scary about that episode was this.

The Angels stopped being scary to me when I saw Time of Angels. It explained them too much.

Still haven't seen that one. I have't watched the last 3 episodes because I know what happens to the ponds. I'm a woos when it comes to sad shit. But if it's anything like the other Weeping Angels episodes, I'll probably be hiding behind a pillow the whole time and have nightmares.

the what the fuckery part was a bit spooky, but then all the stuff towards the end made me cry....and then I saw the Ood.....and then I saw the preview to the next episode...I kind of figured what would eventually happen because I know there's another Doctor after him....but it was still a pretty huge bomb for me. Though I'm sure it was pretty traumatizing for Whovians, or at least I assume.

I demand the name of this episode. I dont care about how scary it is, it is simply killing me that I do not know this reference.

the waters of mars it was a tennant special if you are going to watch it i suggest doing so not at night or possibly with some friends if that helps
