because while hes good he was the replacement for one of the most beloved incarnations of the doctor of all time so because of that hes in the shadow of tennant. to be honest i hated him at first but hes gotten better over time. it just bugs me that there were a lot more 2-3 part episodes

He's a great doctor, there's no denying, but I can't help feel that the last series as a bit... bland. The Episodes were mostly mindgames, which is alright for some episodes but not for the whole series. The christmas special wasn't anything to hark about either. That said, I actually loved the first Matt Smith series, it had a good balance; so I'm hoping this coming series will be as good.

I'm pretty certain that the reason for it's "blandness" is that they're preparing more for the 50th anniversary. Being one of the longest running shows on air, it has a lot to live up to.

That movie was the first episode of Doctor Who I ever watched. When I rewatched it last week, I almost cried at that part. I may sound like a whiny douche for it, but David Tennant made that scene genuinely sad. I consider him one of the greatest actors of all time.

That movie was amazing. I was so sad that Tennant had to go, but he did it wonderfully.

I do think that Eccleston was quite underrated. I liked how he was a hurt and wounded warrior, who couldn't quite realize the war was over.

I agree 100%, he showed a side that many people could relate to, a side that held on to the past and it haunted him. It was a real shame that he was only in 10 or so episodes.

Agreed. But then Tennant was also epic, he was the fighter who repressed his old ways entirely from trauma, and refused to fight almost entirely. Yet he was also so emotional at so many points. He felt like he was a man who turns to drinking or drugs to get away from the pain of his past. Only his drug was adventure and friendship.

Ninth is my second favourite, Tom Baker is my favourite.

I enjoyed that he was quirky and rather flamboyant compared to the first three incarnates. Also, endless pockets stuffed with Jelly Babies? Amazing.

tom baker is my favorite of the first 8 incarnations, tennant is my favorite of the new, he was a good mix of the previous very fun incarnations of the doctor and the seriousness that 9 brought to the table

I think rose wouldn't have gotten along with the eleventh doctor and the same with Amy and the tenth. I prefer rose, though.

I think that in this situation your favorite Doctor is a largely contributing factor as it's also a bout the relationship between the companion and the Doctor, this is probably why Martha had such a weak fan base.

That's the order from who I liked as a companion in the series since Christopher Eccleston to now. I hope the one who replaces Amy does a good job.

I warmed towards Martha during the final episodes of her as a companion and when she guest starred in a few episodes of Torchwood.

Donna was a perfect companion and it works brilliantly having Donna played by Catherine Tate. It's hard to imagine anyone else playing that role.

I take it you don't go to theatres? tennant and tate played in king lear methinks, i wanted to go so badly, but didn't get the chace...

I love Doctor Who. Some episodes are bad and some are amazing, but the series keeps going. That's one thing I love about the Doctor, he keeps trekking on through all the pain and sadness. I think you should watch it, there are so many good stories to look forward to, even if some of them will will make you feel like your heart has been stepped on.

Eh, it's not my favourite season but it has some brilliant episodes. 42 is one of my favourites, AND it has the most famous episode, Blink :)

And after season 3 is season 4 where you get the amazing Donna, so yes, you should keep watching ;D
