Sweet merciful fuck people stop bitching that its not Tennant. I like Matt Smith as the Doctor, fucking deal with it.

i think people just keep complaining about Tennant not doing it because in the episode he was still Tennant.
I feel like Matt Smith is a disappointing Doctor because he is too alien. Yes, I know that sounds weird since he is an alien but he plays into a bit too much for me. It also annoys me that he has completely skipped over everything that he learned as the 10th Doctor (i.e the people)
He is also prone to anger a lot which is odd because Tennant's cycle had a lot to do with him dealing with his anger. The Ninth had every reason to be pissed since he just killed his people for pretty much nothing but I don't feel 11 does.
I'm not trying to say Matt is a bad Doctor, I enjoy his childish antic, but I just find it lacking. (For the record, Christopher Eccleston was my favorite Doctor)

You recieve a thumb because Eccleston is my favorite as well and as far as I can tell we are few and far between.

Then you receive a thumb as well my friend.
I can't understand why so few of us exist, Eccleston was a fantastic Doctor and who could not love that gigantic smile of his?

Of the 7 Doctors I've actually seen, Chris is definitely the best. Side note, in the original series, there were some special episodes called the Three Doctors, the Five Doctors and the Two Doctors where multiple incarnations of the Doctor starred at once. If we don't get "The Four Doctor" after Matt leaves, I'll be right pissed.
User avatar #87 to #83 - trimageryan (05/27/2012) [-]
Agreed, a friend of mine and I were theorizing about that and since the 50th anniversary is next year we believe that they will almost be obligated to do a 3 Doctors episode (Which will also likely be the end of Matt Smith as the Doctor) and I think if Eccleston slaps Smith it will be one of the best days in the history of man.
User avatar #92 to #87 - TheBarneyStinson (05/27/2012) [-]
That seems more likely. I was just going for something easier to title. David, being the fanboy he is, would definitely be in. I think Chris could survive a few more days of filming. Hell, they could (but won't) even make it a movie. And bring back the Master, I miss him. Maybe bring in two Masters. That's the beauty of being a Timelord.
User avatar #94 to #92 - trimageryan (05/27/2012) [-]
That's exactly what I was thinking too, though it would be rather awkward for the Doctor(s) to see The Master again since he was usually trying to kill and/or thwart the Doctor but then he saved his life and all of time and space in a self-less act (It was mainly done out of anger towards Rassilon, but still)
The Master was my favorite Timelord, he was out of his mind but also very brilliant. He also had a lot of fun as an evil villain like when he had just taken over the world with the "Toclafane" and was dancing to music (I Can't Decide by Scissor Sisters) as to make a grand entrance and when he released them he had to make it dramatic by shouting "Here. Come. The drums!" then playing Voodoo Child by Rouge Traders.
I had to buy his Laser Screw Driver and Fob Watch when I saw them online.

They could work that in, though. Matt would be hesitant to fight out of that memory, and David would be hesitant out of his natural good nature. Chris is the only Doctor who hasn't met the master on-screen, and even though he's the least popular modern Doctor, I think he ultimately needs to be the one to face him. I think a lot of the reason I love the Master is that he always just seems to be enjoying himself. Both times he's appeared in the new show, he really should've one. The odds were tremendously in his favour, and he always loses by some bullshit 1 in a million odd at the last minute.
I own four screwdriver replicas. Chris and Davids, Matts, the Masters and Rivers. Never got the Pocket Watch, though, even after seeng it on Thinkgeek.

I also got My Sonic Screwdriver (Chris/Davids), Laser Screwdriver and pocket watch on Thinkgeek. The watch is fantastic and very well made, I almost always carry it around and use it as my normal time telling device since I can't stand watches.

To me, he doesn't feel that alien. He just feels like too much of a child, and the writers know it. Remember his first episode, where near the end he goes on some techno-babble rant just to prove he's a genius? I think that was included just because the writers realize he doesn't seem nearly qualified enough to be the Doctor.

First: I adore your name.
Second: I fully agree, he doesn't seem very Doctor-like. He has the Charisma, the silly attire, and the kidishness (Which, as we discussed before, he over does too much) but he lacks the clever wit of the others and any real distinction other then a few hats.
We knew Tennant by his constant talking to himself to solve a problem as well as his tendency to make people feel small while he babels to them and we knew Eccleston by his giant smile and his pissy attitude towards people (As well as an anger/sorrow for what he's done to his people) but Matt.....He's kind of just there.

First: Thank you.
Second: He has been getting better as it went on, and I really can't tell if the only reason I don't much care for him at this point is me being stubborn. The show itself is still entertaining, but Matt's first few episodes were, well, terrible. In the first, he literally saves the day by just being the Doctor. He shows his ID, and the bad guys run away. Then there's the one with the space whale. He almost immediately gives up, only to have Amy solve the problem really easily. The Doctor should ALWAYS seem more competent than his companions. The closest we got to something like that with Chris or David was when they over thought something. Third, the new Daleks. They're big, flamboyant, and do shit all. They appeared once and ran away. A season and a half later, they haven't returned. And fourth, the Weeping Angels. They were great in Blink, but bringing them back feels very forced.

To summarize, Chris was headstrong and kind of an ass, but had a good reason to be pissed and a heart of gold. Plus, his regeneration was brilliant. David felt just as dark, but a bit scarier at how hard he was trying to hide it. Like he might snap at any moment. He fit the part perfectly and, if it wasn't for his constant whining over Rose and terrible regeneration, might be my favorite Doctor. Matt feels childish, unintelligent and like he completely forgot EVERYTHING Chris and David spent four seasons (and the specials) learning. Yeah, he's fun, but that's not really enough for the role.

Sorry I ranted for so long. I really do enjoy discussing the topic.

As do I my friend and a rant simply means you;re passionate about something.
I also don't like the new Daleks which is sad because the Daleks were my favorite antagonists since they struck a personal cord with the Doctor since they are the reason he's the last of his kind and seeing them still alive seems to constantly remind him of his failure.
The show is indeed still wonderful and he has been getting better the more I see Matt but it's still not as good in my opinion though I've met people who feel that Matt is the best Doctor so I guess it's up to the viewer ultimately. I do adore Amy and Rory though, they have been fantastic.
User avatar #80 to #72 - TheBarneyStinson (05/27/2012) [-]
I loved the Daleks too, because they were pretty much tin space Nazis. I think one of the reasons Doctor Who is so great is because it started in the sixties, before everyone was afraid of making something over the top.
I think I just really miss Russel T Davies. Apparently when he left, all references to the first four seasons went with him. I don't know why Jack stopped making cameo appearances, but I don't like it. And I love Amy and Rory, just like I (was the only one who) loved Martha. It's going to be hard to see them go in season 7...
User avatar #89 to #80 - trimageryan (05/27/2012) [-]
I also miss Jack, he was a great character that was great at making the Doctor feel awkward and to make fun of him for various reasons (Like making fun of his Sonic Screwdriver)
One would think that when Smith was going to take back River then she was a baby and brought all of his allies that he would bring the one that was immortal.
User avatar #90 to #89 - TheBarneyStinson (05/27/2012) [-]
Exactly. The fact that they don't even mention that he has a friend who just happens to be immortal and the head of an organization devoted to fighting aliens is kind of a gaping plot-hole.
