why do timelords have two hearts anyway. seems sort of pointless.

we have superior stamina, mental capacity and have not as many weakness as humans (i.e. electric shock).
and we need to regenerate, that takes a lot.

seems to me it would make more sense to have one eight cavitie heart

if one stops the other can provide auxilliary circulation maybe.

you make a very good point. evolution wise however It seems much more likely that natural selection would cut out a creature with a weak heart and allow for the procreation of ones with one good heart rather then simply have two hearts. secondary organs are great but they usually lead to serious complications such as . my only theory for this is that gallifray had weak gravity but very rich air which would allow for smaller and faster heart(s)
