You've got a pretty insane misconception of Americans, then, bro.

I quite like americans.
thought the fact that by your law a man with history of domestic violence to the point of sending wife into hospital days at the time can buy an military grade weapons during the divorce with absolutely no oversight scares the **** out of me.
Mind you, I have nothing against guns. I own a Smith & Wesson SD40 and a sweet old 1973 WR droplock shotgun. I just don't think insane people should have such an easy time getting guns.

technically (and I mean this in the exact meaning of the word), a man convicted of domestic violence should not be able to get his hands on a gun. It is a federal law.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Domestic_Violence_Offender_Gun_Ban
There are a few loopholes, but they are hard as **** to exploit. Our problem lies with the enforcement of the law, not our lack of having one is what I'm trying to say.

Same. I honestly believe that they need to tighten up on the mental health checks. To my knowledge, someone that has gone to prison on violent charges involving weapons can't own a gun, but it really depends on the state you're in. In Texas, you have to pass a test in order to have a concealed-carry license. It's a gun-safety, accuracy, and knowledge test, so it's not too difficult. In New York, they make you lock your gun up and have the ammo away from the weapon if you want to bring it somewhere.
Those are some classic weapons, by the way!

Ahh! The AK's amazing. Have a friend from Purto Rico who let me try his out. Accurate, light, and just great all-around. Honestly, though, a double barrel and a hand gun are a great couple of weapons to have.
How is it in Bosnia these days? I haven't heard any news about Bosnia. Everything's been about China and the Philippians.

I like them. I'm a old european martial arts receationist so I collect swords and armor. Her highness wanted some guns in the house so I wouldn't try to charge an armed thief with a longsword.
I haven't been back there since 2006. But what I hear from family its still a mess. Not on a level where visitors notice, its a nice place to visit, great food. But to live there is an Kafkian nightmare of inefficient bureocracy and corruption. My mom and dad and I moved to Netherlands back in the nineties and I've been in USA since college.

That sounds great! I've never heard of European martial arts. I've practiced Chinese, but how does European work and what kinds of weapons are involved?
inefficient bureaucracy? Isn't it like that everywhere that bureaucracy is established? I'm not a big fan of those faceless freaks.

We are called ARMA (Association for Renaissance Martial Arts)
We are trying to reconstruct lost martial arts from pre-gunpowder era. Most people just focus on the longsword, but its a complete set. Longsowrd, greatsword, single sword, sword & buckler, sword & dagger, rapier, rapier & dagger, just dagger, polearm, and short staff.
Also kampfringen, which is a style of unarmed combat. Wrestling and kicking and punching. Very "if it works its legal" style
Well, its bad everywhere, but in bosnia its a nightmare. I wanted a picture ID here, and one afternoon in DMV and I'm done. My cousin spent three days getting his renewed. in average six hours a day.

Woa. An entire three days to get your license renewed? That's insane.
That really sounds like a brutal kind of fighting >_< So, it's kind of a revival of old-style combat? I can see how that's useful. Sounds like fun!

Its really fun. It hasn't been around very long, and we refuse to "borrow" from other styles of combat. And its very effective, not as brutal as it sounds, and no worse then asian styles.
Its a reconstruction. There are a lot of books, manuals, traiing sheets left. We are trying to find them, apply them, learn and really revive those lost arts. We already know so much, and people were so wrong thinking that knights were slow or that swords were extremely heavy.
I really love the sword. Not to mention ever since I started training in full armor every day for two hours I've shed most of my extra weight and gained a lot of muscle, especially in shoulders and arms.

That sounds awesome! You train in full armor? That must be uncomfortable, but it seems like a really fun recreational activity. It's good that there are people who are working on reviving old martial arts. I'd hate to see things like that lost.

<- In the group we train dressed like this
There is training in armor, but not at a beginner level. Armor training is specialized training. But I do it on my own, because I'm into it and its an amazing exercise.
