We don't even know his first name. He is simply "The Doctor" (or if you want to be specific, Sir Doctor of TARDIS, as he is knighted by Queen Victoria before being exiled from the British empire) just as The Master is "The Master." 'Dr. Who' isn't even correct, it would be "Doctor who?" as this is a question as well as the title of the program, hence why the title is spelt as Doctor rather than Dr. "Doctor who?" is the question that must never be answered and when it is, silence will fall and the Doctor will die. The only other names he is known as, is "John Smith", "Dr James McCrimmon", "Doctor Vile", "Oncoming Storm" (as named by the Daleks) and "the Soothsayer."
It strangely annoys me to no end when someone refers to him as Dr. Who, and I am an extremely large fan. I do not have "absolutely no problem" with it.

The rebut starts over so that new fans will know what's going on, but it's also like a continuation from the original, so old fans will still enjoy it. And, no, each season is not a new story.

I'm pretty sure that the show starts some time in the '70's, but the rebut stared in '05, I think. Anyway, that's where I started. He is played by Christopher Eccleston, the 9th Doctor. He leaves at the end of the first season. I liked him, he seemed more like how a Timelord should be.

Viewers saw the inside of TARDIS long before Harry Potter was even around, but seeing how Harry Potter and Doctor Who were written by the British it doesn't surprise me that JK Rowling liked the idea.

The TARDIS isn't actually bigger on the inside, you pass through a inter-dimensional dorrway into a pocket dimention, so when you're in the TARDIS, you're not in the TARDIS at all.

However, both Eccleston and Tennant are better than him.

I just finished Tennent's last actual episode, the on before Water on Mars, and I like Eccleston better than Tennent. For some reason Water on Mars's sound is out of sync with the video on Netflix, and I refuse to watch the first Smith episode until I watch Water on Mars. Do you have an other site that I can watch it on?
