This isn't making everything Doctor Who related, this is an exact quote from the show that was taken from Marry Poppins and people are making jokes.

That'd be cool and all IF Mary had actually said that, but she didn't. The exact conversation with the dog, Andrew, is as follows:
Jane
: It's Andrew!
Mary Poppins
: Uh, not so fast, please. I can't understand a word you're saying. Again? Och! Oh, the poor man! Bless you. Well, yes, of course. There's not a moment to lose. I'll go straightaway. And thank you very much.
Jane
: What did he say?
Mary Poppins
: He said, "you're welcome."
Jane
: What else did he say?
Michael
: I don't think he said anything.
Mary Poppins
: You know best, as usual.
Jane
: I thought we were gonna buy some fish.
Mary Poppins
: There's been a change of plans. Come along, please. Don't straggle. Andrew, worrying won't help anyone. Why don't you go home and put your feet up?

I didn't say it was also an exact quote from Mary Poppins, but from the show. It was a scene that was given the idea probably from the Mary Poppins scene and someone bothered to caption both. I'd assume there weren't transsexual dogs named Susan in Mary Poppins.

I thought it was funny, and apparently about 350 other people did too. If you don't like Who jokes, then filter out the channel and stop ragging on other people's pastimes.

I'm not raging, and hate is definitely a strong enough word to take you seriously. Why wouldn't I? You even went to the bother of finding an appropriate image just to express an unnecessary opinion that you could've kept to yourself instead of being a douche about someone else's enjoyment.

People like expressing their opinions. And people like expressing how they feel about other people's opinions. We aren't twelve so "I'm taking my ball and going home" is not all that good of an answer.

I'm not taking my ball and going home? What the hell?
I just don't think it would benefit anyone to express an opinion that was basically "I don't like this specific group of people because their sense of humor is different than mine, why do they have to keep enjoying themselves? Stop having fun!"

Yeah, and there's a reason that people like to shop out the people at the end of a good thread going "i caN'T BREATHE OMG". Shallow praise can be just as annoying as shallow insults (negative feedback is constructive, he was just being a prick for the sake of being a prick).

But there is a reason why negative, non constructive criticism exists: If you don't think it can be improved, then the only route is to express your distaste.

Because we all assume that we are dealing with people that have more emotional stability than a dandelion. They won't be driven to madness and depression by our comments, and hey, they might stop. Or at least keep it to themselves.

Why should they keep it to themselves? All kinds of aimed jokes go through this website, you don't see people complaining that they don't get the SatW jokes, those country ball jokes, weird 4chan stories, Pokemon jokes, weird GIFs that are only funny because they're out of context, dick jokes, fap jokes, dead baby jokes (okay, some people complain about those and I understand that to a degree because they can be kind of gross). The only things that truly get complained about on this website are the least offensive, harmless target audience jokes, yet people still complain about them simply because they don't get it or don't enjoy the show. By your logic, why doesn't everyone go running around calling people stupid for enjoying things that they don't in places they don't even have to acknowledge them? I don't see why I shouldn't go around telling people their interests are stupid whenever I personally don't enjoy them. Oh wait, I do, because that would make me a douchebag.

By my logic the only reason we don't go around complaining it's because we can't mutter the energy to get worked up about it. Also, I see people complaining about every single thing you don't like. And I think that people who say to other that they can't express their opinion are gigantic douchebags. You can tell me why it's wrong, you can tell me why you don't like it, but unless my opinion is actively promoting harm to anyone, you are NOBODY to tell me when I can and cannot complain or praise about X or Y. We complain, you like it. We will walk pass one another, respect my opinion, don't tell me to shut it and I won't tell you that your praise is dumb.

But by complaining simply to complain, you're just being offensive to be offensive and I don't see where that gets anyone other than simply annoyed or into an argument. You can have an opinion, I'm not trying to say that you can't, but saying it simply to get attention and to let people know that you don't like their interests is just a rude concept to me and I don't see the reason for it.

Here's how it works, and as a writer and musician you have to get used to this: The moment you make any sort of media, or content, it's all yours. The instant you put it out there it becomes the world's. You are literally asking for anyone to throw **** or roses at it, otherwise you wouldn't put it out there. You are giving me a choice, if I like it I will say so, with a thumb, a comment or a reaction pick. If I don't I will show it too, with a red thumb or a comment expressing why I don't. That's the reason why you put stuff out there. If you are too much of a delicate flower to have people telling you that they dislike something you like, don't put it out there. And if the content creator decided to make it public, he already exposed himself to any feedback, there's no need for you to defend him when he already accepted it.

People learn by making mistakes, realizing what they did was a mistake, then figuring out how to not make it in the future. If you just tell them that they're stupid, they're going to assume that you're just an asshole and continue on their merry way. Now, if you offer a solution or something of that nature to prevent them from continuing to make a mistake, then now you're getting somewhere. Otherwise, no one learns.

I know that, I'm a musician myself. This isn't about the specific content though, the poster here doesn't give a **** what people think, he just thought it was funny and supposed that others would too. I'm not defending the OP. I'm defending the fan base, or rather the idea of a fan base in general. This is a group of people who enjoy something very specific, such as a TV show, a game, whatever. You, by making a snide remark solely for the purpose of expressing your distaste for what they enjoy, are only going to make them feel worse about liking whatever they like. Even if people pretend that they aren't affected by an insult to what they do, they always will be at some level. If I were to tell you your musical taste was bad, you'd get upset. If I were to tell you that your writing was bad, you'd get defensive. It's the same general thing, and unless you plan on actually accomplishing something with your negativity, there's no reason to express it.

No I wouldn't, I'm not twelve. People have different opinions, they can like, whatever they like and express their like. I, in fact, like it too. It is my favourite show. I, however, don't care for a "joke" about how superficially Mary Poppins is supposed to exist in the same universe. No how Bill Nye is supposed to be a Time Lord because he wears the same clothes as one incarnation of one Time Lord. Expressing what makes me upset is that: expressing it. If your first reaction is "Awww" when receiving any sort of criticism instead of "how could I make this better" or "this person is talking out of their ass" you don't know how to handle it. Part of criticism is knowing which one to heed, and if they choose not to listen to mine that's alright. Mine is there, end of discussion. It is neither more or less valid than the guy that commented "OMG So funny XDDDD Bow ties are kewwlll".

Criticism is different from just telling a group of people that they're stupid. Tell them
how
to be better, not just to be better. If you're actually trying to accomplish something from giving someone negative feedback, then great. Otherwise, calling someone cancer without helping them become a working part of the organism is just mean and senseless. It's a two way street. I'll admit that a lot of these jokes are stupid, but I found the comparison funny. Also, you should understand that most of the people on that site are roughly 13-17 years old and not fully developed. They're allowed to make bad jokes every once in a while, and just telling them that they're stupid isn't going to accomplish anything in helping them become properly developed human beings.
Going back to your point, "That's the reason why you put stuff out there. If you are too much of a delicate flower to have people telling you that they dislike something you like, don't put it out there." The internet is so desensitized these days. Most kids don't understand the sheer density of people that may see these jokes and that may return with negative and senseless remarks, and as under-developed human beings, may take it a bit harshly.

That's the way you learn, though. You don't develop a tough skin by being caressed. And we aren't even being mean, it's just being snarky. If anything they will learn it to take things with a grain of salt; big whoop. They hear 10 times worse things when stuck in traffic.

I wholeheartedly apologize that we have tainted your precious Mary Poppins (which I doubt you've even seen for a while) with a harmless joke that you didn't have to care about or even read.
It's such a shame that you've wasted more time talking about this silly little joke than actually reading it, yet you still care.

I'm not making a big deal out of this, you are, otherwise you wouldn't have posted your original comment. If you don't like a particular joke, just skip past it like most of the site instead of making comments about how everyone who enjoys that particular brand of humor is a cancerous lump on our society. That's all I'm saying, skip it. All you managed to do with that comment was offend people who you really have no right to insult (for that particular reason, anyways).
