******* and spics do?

Deep fry is not "seasoning".

And "Adobo" is just salt and MSG...
User avatar #211 to #95 - NegateThat (11/29/2015) [-]
See I use a slew of seasoning. I have no clue what Adobo is my friend. And deep frying? Are you trying to end yourself? Vegatable oil is stupid. Gotta use Coconut Oil or Almond Oil. Makes food taste great. I could name you all the spices in my cabinet but ya wouldn't know half of them. White people be killing me eating just bread and pasta. With a bland ass tomato sauce. It's all those carbs ******* you up. All that salt you not adding. Go play with your dick little ***** .

User avatar #12 to #6 - ssjkirby (11/29/2015) [-]
Genes play a role in how broccoli tastes.

Certain genes make it taste more bitter.
User avatar #22 to #6 - greyhoundfd (11/29/2015) [-]
People don't understand how to combine vegetables. Most parents just hear "Give your kids a vegetable" and think "I'll throw something random into the next meal" instead of trying to pair it. Broccoli, for instance, should only go with foods that have very strong or rich sauces, since the buds of the broccoli easily trap sauce, and the plant becomes a flavor sponge that is absolutely delicious when you bite into it.
User avatar #26 to #22 - chuca (11/29/2015) [-]
So what your saying is make kids like broccoli by making it taste like something else. Which is fine, but that still means the broccoli's taste is an issue.
User avatar #27 to #26 - greyhoundfd (11/29/2015) [-]
I mean, if you just ate bread all day it would probably taste like **** , but I don't see people saying that the taste of bread is still a problem because most people recommend using it for toast or sandwiches instead.
User avatar #29 to #27 - chuca (11/29/2015) [-]
People don't make sandwiches with bread to mask the taste of it. And we're not talking about eating a single food all the time, we're talking about eating it anytime.
User avatar #32 to #29 - greyhoundfd (11/29/2015) [-]
My point is that in most cases these foods are supposed to be prepared a certain way, and if they're not they taste weird or funky. Broccoli is the same thing. Just eating it outright is obviously bland or bitter, but combining it with sauce or cheese gives it flavor.
User avatar #34 to #32 - chuca (11/29/2015) [-]
Which is my point, that broccoli's taste alone is bad. I don't see what the argument is here.
User avatar #36 to #22 - penileburglar (11/29/2015) [-]
I'm totally fine with steamed broccoli. In fact, I loved a few big, steamed broccoli florets with steak. Saying it 'should only go with foods that have very strong or rich sauces' is silly. You should try it that way if you don't like them any other way, but PLENTY of people like broccoli by itself.

Plus smothering it in sauce often defeats the purpose of trying to be healthier in the first place. If you don't like broccoli, covering it in unhealthy stuff just so you can choke it down is silly, find something healthy that you DO like or just enjoy something unhealthy.
User avatar #38 to #36 - greyhoundfd (11/29/2015) [-]
Yeah, "should only" is definitely a bit strong, but "goes best" is definitely true.

Also, the purpose of eating vegetables and fruits and is to achieve the needed amounts of vitamins and minerals, not just to eat fruits and vegetables for the day. So long as your calories for the day balance, it doesn't matter if you smother your broccoli in liquid crack cocaine, just so long as it provides the intended nutrients.
User avatar #41 to #38 - penileburglar (11/29/2015) [-]
Too many calories is a LOT more common of a problem than too few vitamins and minerals nowadays, though. Yes, the point is to balance your calorie intake while getting the nutrients you need. Most people have a lot more problems with the former than the latter.

And I actually prefer my broccoli steamed or in light stir-fries rather than with strong/rich sauces. Taste is purely a matter of preference.
User avatar #132 to #36 - haroldsaxon ONLINE (11/29/2015) [-]
Why do you believe sauce to be unhealthy?
User avatar #162 to #132 - penileburglar (11/29/2015) [-]
By nature, most sauces that could be described as 'strong or rich sauces' are. I said 'often defeats,' not 'always defeats.'

Maybe if you have like a genetic disorder then fine.
User avatar #58 to #57 - lotengo ONLINE (11/29/2015) [-]
not a disorder, evolution
User avatar #59 to #58 - ChuckNorrisVsMRT (11/29/2015) [-]
It's only evolution if it helps. Otherwise it's just a failed mutation doomed to natural selection. Those who don't like broccoli will have to go further out of their way and spend more money to get a ton of super good ass nutrients and they're gunna be hella sad cus they don't get to enjoy all that green goodness.
User avatar #139 to #59 - mutzaki (11/29/2015) [-]
Broccoli is not a natural plant, it was created by us.

Evolutionarily, we're supposed to like foods that are high in fat, sugar and calories. It's more of a modern convenience that we're able to eat a more varied diet. It's why it's perfectly normal for people to be far more fond of sweets and junk food than veggies.
User avatar #177 to #139 - ChuckNorrisVsMRT (11/29/2015) [-]
What does broccoli not being "natural" have to do with anything? Not being able to eat it still hinders you nutritionally in the ways I mentioned before?
User avatar #179 to #177 - mutzaki (11/29/2015) [-]
Because it means it's not a matter of us having evolved alongside it, so it's not a failed mutation in any way to dislike broccoli.
