Expensive mainly because of the silicone material. Unlike PVC or jelly dongs, these are made to last a lifetime (with proper care).
PVC and jelly tend to carry a repugnant, plastic-y odor. They also degenerate and begin to "leak" an oily substance. The oil carries a burning sensation to it when inserted anally, and I needed to buy condoms to make my toys usable.
Silicone is hygienic. It can be sanitized a variety of ways that would destroy other materials. It also boasts a "life-like" feel to it. It retains heat. Stretchy, durable.
I got more uses out of my $120 SeaDragon of five years than I would've got out of $120 worth of jellydongs.
