DC invented Deathstroke. Marvel then liked his concept, sociopath who has personality disorders and he can acknowledge them. They then asked DC the permission to use the Wilson last name and after they gave Marvel the permission, BANG, Wade Wilson was born. He was to be the opposite of Deathstroke. Instead of being grim, dark and always negative, he was to be happy, joyful and positive. Add some sociopathy and personality disorders to the soup and BANG, you got yourself a Deadpool. Oh and guns. Lots of guns.
