I find it funny that the first enemies you meet in the game can wreck your shit no matter what level you are, if you're not careful.
I'm level 227 and I tried to sprint through the undead asylum yesterday... they killed my face by making a wall out of themselves then hitting me so I kept falling over
(before you ask, yes, I had zero poise at the time due to the fact that I was nekkid)

Dark Souls is one of my favorite games. As difficult as it can be, perseverance is key. I get great personal reward beating a single boss in dark souls. If you do play, don't give up! Sometimes a fresh look at a hard portion is all you need. Also there's a great Dark Souls/Demon Souls community to offer advice and support

In a random RPG, using a level 1 weapon when you're level 100 feels like this.

sometimes, i like to go on co-op naked and refuse to do anything but attack with shields and dance around with the channelers trident
That's the thing with the Souls series. The stat upgrades help to a degree. But. You have to learn: enemy positions, attacks, the level layout and who is weak to what. I think it's neat because a level 250 can wreck a level 600's shit because the 250 is a better player. The stats are just there primarily so you can use other equipment. Sure they do increase damage a little but most of the game requires a bit of finesse.
