We are the "Souls"

A beautiful video.

Definitely worth the watch if you're a Souls fan. But I'd say it's still worth even if you're not.

Apparently the post got taken down due to Youtube copywrite claim.

Good ******* job by Youtube, per usual.

You know what would be the single most spine tingling moment of a Dark Souls game for me?

Strolling through a wooded area, relatively late game. I suppose my mind is envisioning a mix of shaded woods and the Firelink Shrine. Beautiful, only sparsely populated with enemies that you've fought before, nothing that makes you grit your teeth. Coming upon a clearing with a bonfire, and thinking

"Another? Already? Not that far to the last one, DS games are getting even easier"

And a cutscene triggers, your character takes a few more steps into the glade, hesitates as someone stands from among the weeds and grasses on the other side of the clearing. Armored, cool looking, but nothing threatening. It rises, rolls its shoulders, appraises your character with a tilt of the head.... maybe even pops a "Well what is it" if the Game devs can make it look good

Takes a few long paces forward and draws the bonfire sword. and transitions into the fight as seamlessly as possible, no cut-to-black

I just had an idea, what if with some bonfires could only be used after defeating their 'guardian'? Like you're desperate for this bonfire but you have to fight for it.

So we are talking something along the lines of a rampaging firekeeper?
#32 to #31 - ohlookahollybush (06/01/2015) [-]
I think they might be talking about Giantdad.

Since the bonfire sword isn't a zweihander to begin with i doubt it.
User avatar #35 to #32 - waffies (06/01/2015) [-]
Yeah, i just meant it as a person who actually draws the blade from the bonfire and uses it against you. That'd throw me for a loop

This video really proves how "Alive" the world of DS1 really was. Every character in that game had their own goals, and actually worked towards those goals through out the game, getting different endings based on your actions.

******* God Tier Game.

Wow. Tarkus, Solaire, and Kirk really got me going. The Lautrec/Lady of the Darkling ship was a little cringy, though.

I cosplay'd as Kirk in DS1 all the time. I might need to do another build like that.
User avatar #10 to #8 - corsairjoshua [OP](05/31/2015) [-]
Yeah I don't really understand why he did that with Lautrec and the Lady of the Darkmoon.

At first I thought it was just her set of Brass armor holding her body and I was like "Damn that's some cool symbolism." But then I saw the hands and the spires on his shoulders and it all fell apart.
User avatar #12 to #10 - neverborn (05/31/2015) [-]
damn, that would have been cool. I'm going to go ahead and think of it that way in future.

Holy **** ... it's like this song was made for Dark Souls...

Also, the ending would've worked just as well for ignoring the fire. Perhaps better even, but that's probably subjective to peoples' preferred endings.
User avatar #9 to #7 - schneidend (05/31/2015) [-]
I think it would have worked better for the Dark ending, actually, since reigniting the fire dooms you to a silent, burning hell for a thousand years. It's not not something I would call a "beginning."

woah, best dark souls animation I've seen since ages, really gets the fire going again.

god damnit,that song,those scenes.......woah... ****

damn this was feely. but lautrec and the darkmoon knightess had no connections.
User avatar #25 to #24 - corsairjoshua [OP](06/01/2015) [-]
Yeah that's the one thing I didn't like about this. There was a lot more potential for both of those characters.

That scene with Tarkus hit me hard.

i was never really into this game because of how hard it was.

when i play most games i play them because i want to get into the story, and have more of a relaxing, fun and immersive experience. i like treating it as if its a sort of movie, and dying all the time just gets too annoying for me.

the game is definitely fun though, but it just doesnt really capture my interest for extended periods of time
