Sif in the first playthrough

They shouldve made it so Sif's new cutscene has him just giving you the Covenant of Artorias so you could progress without killing him.

my speculation is that he doesn't want you to go to the abbys, look at what happened to his best friend artorias, he doesn't want to see you corrupt like him. and those darkwraiths just spit in his face when joining them.

i really hate to kill him, but it's to make the world a better place. you did beat manus so it's not that he thinks you're weak.

Well I think it's both that, and the fact that he feels like he HAS to guard his closest friend's grave. Like, something he swore. He can't just let you take his ring.

i forgot about that, but he didn't die there. he died in the oolacile township.

I'm pretty sure that where Oolacile was in the past is essentially where sif is now. Like the area where the hydra is is also where you fight kalameet. think about how close they are. It may be on his actual gravesite.

well, actually the place where you fight sif is the place where that mushroom godmother is, and kalameet IS closer to where you fight artorias then where you fight sif. but they probably buried him there. no one knows because no one saw. it's just pure speculation.

Which also happens to be the final resting place of said master's lover who died behind his headstone.

are you seriously telling me you had no trouble with Ornstein and Smough?

I beat Orenstein and Smough first time, used 3 estus flasks and it took me about 5 minutes, were there any attacks that you just weren't prepared for? What happened there? I found them easier than Pinwheel and apparently they're one of the toughest bosses in the game, I never understood why though.

I walked in and got double-teamed almost instantly. I was not prepared for Ornstein's speed.

Bro, use the pillars and take pot shots at Smough, when Orenstein gets powered up, roll between his legs, that way, he can only hit you with his butt-slam, which is pretty easy to avoid.

I've beaten the game 3 times already, don't worry. That was just my first experience.

Fair enough, my first playthrough I played as defensively as possible, in recent games I've just kind of taken burst in, or summoned Solaire and watch him fight both bosses because I can.

i honestly don't know. i think it's because i insisted on killing smough first, and that tends to make ornstein ridiculously tough

Oh, well I killed Smough first as well, and I just beat the 4 kings first try, but getting there took me a good while. I guess some people are good at fighting lesser enemies and others are good at boss fights, people are rarely a mixture of the two.

Since every boss takes a different strategy, everyone has one boss that takes all of their effort to kill. have you found yours yet?

Not really, the only bosses I have left are Seasless Discharge, Centipede demon, bed of chaos and then Gwyn, people seem to have a lot of trouble with Chaos, so I'll see how that turns out for me.

Out of interest, what weapon and/or shield are you using?

I use the drake sword and bloodshield, with a pyromancy gauntlet in my alt slot. my armor is the body, gloves and legs from the Crimson set with Havel's boots and helmet

Ah, well if I were you I'd replace the Drake sword with an upgraded Uchigatana, it's a lot quicker, much stronger, A lot lighter, scales A with dexterity and does bleeding damage, but the durability is kind of shitty.

My current character is more of a tank, Black iron set, Greatshield of Artorias, Black knight sword and Pharis' bow, I can't remember the exact name, I also have a talisman to heal when an estus flask doesn't need to be used. Do you use any specific rings? I use Havel's ring and the ring of favour and protection, because even though I wear heavy stuff, I don't like fat rolling. I sometimes switch the Uchigatana when I need to worry about speed more than power.

havel's ring for exactly the same reason. i can't remember what amulet i use. D: i loved everything about the uchigatana except the durability

Well I found the boss that I will crown the most difficult. The bed of chaos. I will now refer to that boss as the bed of go fuck yourself. I just spent the last hour and a half fighting it, I literally ran up to avoid the scythe thing when she swiped her arms she fucking threw me into the gap just in front of her. I only have Gwyn now, which I'll do tomorrow, but right now I'm going to go and make myself a victory sandwich.

Yeah even the makers of the game apologized for the boss. It's just ridiculous. Most of all it's lluck. This one actually had nothing to do with skill

the bed of chaos was a fucking nightmare. i'll be honest, though, i'm glad one of the bosses got you. it only seems fair :P just gwyn to go! good luck, man. be on the lookout for something special in the area outside his chamber, too.

Just beat Gwyn, first time, completely solo, no parrying, I just took his hits like a fucking champ and hit him hard.

Fantastic game, only complaint is that it doesn't give you any real direction, I've spent several hours trying to find where I'm trying to go, like finding the 4 kings took me a good few hours, but that was part of the challenge I guess. Not as hard as people claim it to be, but still no walk in the park. 10/10, I enjoy a good challenge, probably my favourite game.

Sorry man, I have it on PS3, my PC lags when it runs it and you can't play around with the graphic settings so I can't help it.

it has so far only been touted as "this year" but even that is pretty tentative. I'll remain optimistically cautious about how good it is compared to DS1, but it'll be given the chance it deserves to impress me

Not at all. They weren't as hard as people say. You just have to play defensively. Kill Ornstein first. Took me 10 mins and about 15 estus to solo. Or summon Solaire. That just makes the fight SUPER easy. They're really easy one on one. Smough is slow as fuck and Ornstein telegraphs his attacks pretty slow and don't do much damage at all.

i guess different players have different ways of doing stuff. you say you had trouble with Four Kings, but i didn't even use estus in that fight. Ornstein and Smough, though, took me about an hour to beat

DAmn really? That's my hardest fight. I think it's my lack in skill in dodging. I can tank pretty much any boss but them/it/whatever. Havel's Greatsheild FTW.

not when you fight him when he's grown. if you save him before fighting manus his younger self helps you and if he gets hurt in the fight he limps while still trying to fight

I'm pretty sure Sif (even when full grown) has a limp animation, I think I remember seeing it on one of ENB's videos.

if there is, then it must have been after the dlc was released. when i fought him at the grave he had no limping animation. when you summon him in the abyss he will when his health hits a certain level. i have seen a video of sif having a different entry video if you first go to the dlc area and then fight him for the lord soul, but i havent gone back and beat sif at the grave in a while.

he does limp, but mostly just to trick you, does it only on low health

because you knew exactly how to beat him the first time. im one of probably many players who didnt go through in the right order, i killed sif before quaelag, and i assumed the wolf swinging a giant sword was unblockable

You say "right" order. The game was designed to do in a variety of ways. I always kill quelaag and many other bosses before even the bell gargoyles. Just my preferred way. (the gargoyles die in like 2 hits. 'tis fun)

well yes you can go in any order but there is a distinct you should be here now feel. quelaag went down like a sack of bricks after sif. especially after i found out if you stay right up to her she cant hit you
