See, I feel like this **** is how the John Cena meme should be done. Not just editing random ear-destroying Cena **** into random videos. This is one of the few times I actually got a laugh out of the meme.
I haven't played it. But the 4~ hour campaign, no split screen, lack of forge (coming soon I think) and the random loot from gold packs online, kinda brings it down for me.
As someone who put tonnes of hours into the halo 3 and reach, trying to grind for the good cosmetic gear, the fact it's been replaced with random loot and microtransactions is pretty saddening.
I mean you don't HAVE to use them. From looking at reviews (Angry Joe show was a good one) its basically you grind for points.
With about 2 hours of grinding online you can buy 1 gold pack.
1 gold pack gives you random loot. You can also buy these packs for like $2. it's not so bad, but the random loot is so *********** . I liked working for my cool helmets in the old Halo.
2 hours is a bit too much two warzones and you can unlock them easy lol and once you open a few and get rid of the ***** stuff ( kinda like ME3 with its packs ) you only start getting the good things we learned its better to buy a bunch of bronze than silvers than buy the golds
I'm glad I quit playing League of Legends to see similar stuff in Halo 5 but less cancerous. For example the time consuming matches that last on League of Legends vs a regular Warzone game. Besides having to pay for Xbox Live, the micro transactions seem to have more worth in Halo 5 than League of Legends and other games I've played.
They do honestly / warzone is a ******* of fun and gets you the most RP / XP no one really gives games a chance anymore they see one bad review or one thing the game has that they don't like and assume the game is gonna be utter trash
I never did get lucky with those packs in ME3.
I unlocked almost all customization options for the classes i DIDN'T play because i kept getting those. I just wanted my Geth Juggernaut, damnit. I don't need more options for that Asari biotic that i never used.
eh but with ME3 complete one platinum be able to get almost 3 packs or spend i forget how much $ it was for one it was a totally fair system for earning back the rest is just left on if the game feels like ******* you or not
I never managed to really farm platinums reliably if i'm not playing that Geth Infiltrator. My favorite clas, the Krogan Vanguard, wasn't very viable there.
Speaking as someone who likes the game, but it isn't my favorite, I found Joe's review to be pretty bad. Sure, no split screen sucks, and my sister was disappointed that we couldn't play together, but he talks about it like it came out of nowhere, when they announced it half a year ago. Then he mentions issues with his router ad the games fault. The story was disappointing, but the level design and enemesis made it a blast. Also, his time for the campaign was completely off, as he blitzed through it with two people on a low difficulty. His rants about the halo community telling him how wrong he was seemed childish, and his rant about the rec system even more so.
See, he didn't understand the rec system, which is understandable ss there was no tutorial other than a sarcastic video that he took way too seriously. Also, his calculations for completion were waaaaay off, as he used gold packs, when silvers give more permanent cards for the cost. You also get packs as rewards for ranking up and completing commendations.
I usually watch his reviews because he's kind of entertaining. I suppose I was kinda wrong to trust him. I notice he does miss some vital information on other games but since I have no intention of buying an Xbox one i just took his opinion as fact.
I mean I still hate the random loot, but I guess it wasn't as bad as I thought
Micros don't really ruin it you can still earn the top tier one every two games if you play the right game types and more games are leaning towards micros anyways just don't buy them simply and play and enjoy the game
those games are pay to win totally different its like ME3 they used micros but that game was fun as **** pay to win are trash games which companies sell out as soon as they can you wanna be an idiot and pay 3$ for a gold pack or play two matches? two me it seems pretty even plus you get a good day of gaming in and before you know it you have a ******* of req to buy gold packs
From what I've seen you're supposed to buy bronze packs (which you can usually afford a couple every game or so) which get all the crap stuff out of the way. You then start silver doing the same thing then once you get to gold you get decent stuff much more often.
Yes sir. Nor forge, no co-op(one of the franchises biggest attractions) they took out all their freat online modes like big team battles. The games unlock system is based around microtransactions. The campaign is short, and the trailers were blatant false advertising from 343 to get people to buy the game. Also, the very premise that chief, the guy who saved the human race countless times, has suddenly gone AWOL for no good reason? It doesn't make much sense. The game is glitched to hell. It's better than foru but thats not saying much
I added on in a later comment that they were coming out with free dlc and extensions. But why not just have Forge in there from the start? And i doubt the game will instantly become good again with just forge. They took out a bunch of things that made the franchise great, and added a few that suck. Random unlocks after playing for twelve games? Microtransactions which were added soley to make more money? I don't like what 343 has done with one of the greatest game franchises in history.
Req packs for tourneys is tge most ******** excuse 343 could come up with. So many games provide money for tourneys without microtransactions, and halo has been doing it for years. When even questioned about req packs and how players can abuse it 343 told those people to **** off. If you want source on that, its in the ******* game. They took out co-op so people would go out and buy another xbox, that's a fact. They never even said they were taking out co-op and force you to pay $400 if you wanna play with a friend. You cant even play local on the same xbox. Try to defend that. Because you ******* cant.
>When even questioned about req packs and how players can abuse it 343 told those people to **** off.
how are you going to abuse the req packs? you literally have to wait until they unlock in the match, or get gud, and get to level 8 req packs.
>They never even said they were taking out co-op and force you to pay $400 if you wanna play with a friend. You cant even play local on the same xbox. Try to defend that. Because you ******* cant.
Yes they did, actually. They said this a few months ago, actually. they did it so the "muh graphics" people could get sixty frames per second at the cost of split screen.
>they took out all their freat online modes like big team battles.
Coming next month also.
>The campaign is short, and the trailers were blatant false advertising from 343 to get people to buy the game.
>Also, the very premise that chief, the guy who saved the human race countless times, has suddenly gone AWOL for no good reason? It doesn't make much sense.
because going off to search for cortana, who is the one calling in the guardians and causing the death and destruction in the colonies and who john has the most experience with, making him qualified to deal with her, and who wants to put the universe at her heel with those that dissent possibly being exterminated, which that possibility forced john to search for her and put a stop to her madness which will most likely happen in the next game, doesn't make sense, nor is a good enough reason for him to go AWOL. Did you even pay attention to the campaign?
>The game is glitched to hell. It's better than foru but thats not saying much
1st. I said theyd give free DLC's adding mor to MP. But we're discussing launch, at launch it's incomplete and undeserving of defense. And how can you possibly defend the story? Its the shortest Halo story and isnt even good, they advertised some epic battle between Locke and Chief but they become all buddy buddy by the end? Cortana being the big bad is a **** idea, i dont even need to elaborate on that. Recycled boss battles that arent even fun. A broken AI system essentially making your spartan teammates useless, especially if you go down. And lets not forget the bs and undeserved cliffhanger. The game, as it is RIGHT NOW is garbage. Could it get better? Sure. Will it? I hope so.
>But we're discussing launch, at launch it's incomplete and undeserving of defense.
In your opinion. For me, I'm having tons of fun on warzone, team Arena/Slayer, and SWAT.
>And how can you possibly defend the story? Its the shortest Halo story and isnt even good
Again, In your opinion. As for it being the shortest halo story? I'm pretty sure that goes to ODST I literally finished the story for ODST in 3 hours on normal with two people. Halo 5 took me about six or seven hours on normal with four people, and that was just last night.
>they advertised some epic battle between Locke and Chief but they become all buddy buddy by the end?
Were you watching a different cutscene than i was, whenever locke and chief fight? because that was actually pretty ******* cool.
>Cortana being the big bad is a **** idea, i dont even need to elaborate on that.
The cortana you know is dead at the end of halo 4. This cortana, and i'm basing this on a single line she says in the final mission, might actually be part of the didact, too. if you remember at the end of halo 4 she sends her rampant personalities to stall the ur-didact so chief can nuke him. What might have happened is the cortana we see in halo 5 might have merged with the didact in some small way, or perhaps, the warden eternal is the didact, since he was composed in halo escalation, which means his soul could be in a promethean, such as the warden eternal. The reason i say this is because the didact and cortana say the exact same thing in the halo 4 epilogue and the final halo 5 mission respectively. Of course i could be wrong.
>Recycled boss battles that arent even fun.
Meh. I can't argue against this. it's annoying on legendary.
>A broken AI system essentially making your spartan teammates useless, especially if you go down.
I can't speak for this one. Vale and tanaka always kept my a friend and I up.
>And lets not forget the bs and undeserved cliffhanger.
What's wrong with the cliffhanger? They literally said in 2011, whenever halo 4 was announced, that this was a new trilogy. Hell, halo 2 did a cliffhanger, ODST did a legendary cliffhanger which wasn't really relevant to the third game, hell, halo 3 did a cliffhanger, where you see chief drifting towards requiem, which pretty much screamed halo 4.
>The game, as it is RIGHT NOW is garbage. Could it get better? Sure. Will it? I hope so.
I'll say it now, don't play the story without friends if you have the opportunity. The AI partners take away from the experience. And it's not because it's a cliffhanger that it has me bothered. I feel, if you're going to have a cliffhanger, you need to have a story that makes the player want to finish the story. 5s story isn't engaging and is unbalanced in terms of play time with the two main characters, with Locke holding the majority. I dont like Cortanas heel turn because it takes away the emotional value of her "death" in four. There's is fun in the game no doubt, and the game controls well. And when Forge and BTB and other features are added on later im sure many people's opinion (including my own) of the game will change, but as it stands i just dont like it now.
>I dont like Cortanas heel turn because it takes away the emotional value of her "death" in four.
I disagree...it hurt more knowing that cortana, who you thought dead in the last game and has been with you for all of the main halo games, has turned...well...evil. We're going to have to be the ones to kill her, and i honestly don't want to do that, which...i'm hoping they'll give us the opportunity to save her.
The whole campaign was a giant pile of ****
The gameplay is alright once you get used to it. But unfortunately (for me anyway) I am really into the Halo storyline, and I feel with this one they just did soooo many things wrong, and that also dont make much sense.
Exactly. They had a chance to give some badass Spartan vs Spartan battle but instead we watched some 30 second cutscene between Locke and Chief slapping eachother.
not to mention (I might put this under spoiler tags, not that its THAT much of a spoiler)
After that first fight, literally the next time they meet, without any previous dialogue showing that either have changed sides, Locke finds Chief and is just like 'oh you aren't siding with cortana? lets be friends!'. Like did you guys just decide to go against orders for no other reason than Chief saying 'na we good'. Like why didnt you just ask him the first time you saw him if his word was all you needed?
And the fact that they completely gloss over the fact that this is a regrouping of Blue team. The greatest team of Spartan II's there ever was.
and then in the first mission you have to go get Halsey, which at the start of the mission, and also if you just know the lore, they refer to her as 'The biggest warcriminal of the UNSC'. Then IMMEDIATELY after they have her, they put her in charge of so much and follow her orders to a fault.
Like seriously, she joined the covenant rebellion, and then straight away is like 'oh Chief cant treat Cortana as a threat!' and everyone just believes her implicitly, not even questioning it. Even though for the last decade Chief has shown he does what is right for humanity.
which again goes back to the trailer outright lying. Going 'we made him so it our fault when he kills civilians!' Which he doesnt do at ANY point, nor is he the cause of any civies dying, because he never sided with Cortana. Like the first thing he says to her is 'how many people died, you know the exact number, dont you?'
oh yes that right I remember when I heard that Blue team was going to be in this game that I didn't want to see anything about how substantial it was in the game, But instead wanted to go to a different medium to read about how cool it is.
I mean. Everything's there. hell, you don't even have to pay for anything just hit up view comic, and type in "halo escalation", or go to halopedia and look up the plot synopsis for everything, and boom. You're caught up.
Its not just a matter of being 'caught up' I mean of course you can read about the lore to find out about it. But when they have the opportunity to put these things into the actual game, but then don't disappoints me.
I mean especially considering They made such a huge deal out of her DYING in the last one just ******* makes it retarded. Like you can't try and make a main character dying for an emotional moment if you are just going to go 'Oh yeah she's in this Forerunner galactic network now. Oh and she is cured from rampancy. Like have some commitment to something like that
And yeah the end ******* cliffhanger like seriously why would chief be even the slightest bit happy to see Halsey, the person who kidnapped and tortured him and his friends at a young age. Its not a Mother/Son relationship they make it show. It should be fearful respect, as if they went against her they would get punished.
I mean if anything when Chief met up with Arbiter they should've had a big reunion of these Two Titans of their respective factions, and also as friends. Not chief giving a **** about the warcriminal Halsey
In the lore, which is canon and i'm talking pre-halo 4 (Fall of reach specifically), Halsey treats every spartan as her own. She really cared deeply for her spartans, actually.
Honestly a lot of your complaints are answered in the books, which you don't even really need to read, just hit up halopedia, and look up the plot synopsis for everything.
I can see why Halsey would see the spartans as her own. But I never really saw how the Spartans would see her as their mother, considering what she did to them.
And I know that they can be answered in the books. But the games should be where they can really show proper storyline. But instead they go 'well here is an outline of what happened, if you actually want to see and hear about the cool stuff, go to the secondary mediums.'
I never said they didn't. It was something that always annoyed me. But back then as you said it was a lesser scale, it still felt like the main story was the games, and the other media was branching off. Now its more like the other media has the mains story, and the game is just a connector
It really doesnt show how powerful the Arbiter should have been. Like the fact that the swords of Sanghelios are being over-run when you first meet them is ridiculous. As the Arbiter's forces should have been much, much more prevalent on the planet. Considering at the end of Halo 3 when they talk about going back to their homeworld that 'It is safe, for we have made it so'
Quite honestly the thing that annoys me the most is when you think about it Locke and his team didnt need to exist. Since the reason they are introduced, is to hunt down the chief since he is 'killing civilians' which he isn't doing
no, the reason locke is hunting chief and his team is explained in mission 2: Argent moon.
the whole killing civies thing was explained in hunt the truth season two, as FERO is really an ONI agent who, was throwing a bone to ben, who was on the verge of exposing the SPARTAN-II program's origins, which most civies, hell maybe even the rest of the military, didn't know about, and would have ruined public perception of the SPARTAN program in general.
Well yes, thats when they explain why they are after them, but it really isnt that much to go off. I mean if they got rid of Halsey's line saying that Chief cant view Cortana as a threat, they could have reworked a lot of the game to just have chief do most of the missions. Of course as Cortana is trying to get chief to her, they would need to make a reason why Chief couldnt make the teleport where Locke and Chief fight. Oh wait, they do. Since the Warden doesnt trust chief he often tried to block him from getting there.
"it is safe, for we have made it so" refers to two things: the fact the Elites helped stop the firing of the Halo Array, and the fact that they dismantled the Covenant for the leaders of which had essentially sentenced the entire Sangheili species to extermination, Halo firing or not.
And the Sangheili civil war is essentially an even split. Half the planet wants to assist the Arbiter because their clans were among those who fought alongside the UNSC and understand first-hand what was going on and why the need to change their ways for the sake of their race. The other half sees the Arbiter as a traitor, attempting to destroy everything the Sangheili have believed for thousands of years and insert himself at the top, and those Sangheili follow Jul'Mdama, who has a particularly large hate boner for the Arbiter because he's the one responsible for the death of Jul's wife, Raia.
The reason the Arbiters forces were almost overrun when you first arrive on Sanghelios is because most of the Swords are spread throughout Sangheili territory, ensuring the safety of various colonies. The State of Vadam on Sangheilios is the home of the Arbiter and his clan, and was one of the last places expected to be attacked by the Covenant Remnants, so when they showed up with a massive force attempting to ensure they could keep Sunaion, the Swords were caught off guard.
Buy it if you want, I'm just telling people that the games not as good as it once was. 343 is releasing free DLC's later on and that might bring the games value up. But right now it's a mess, and the new requisition system isnt helping
There's a team of modders working on getting a solid running version of that Russian F2P Halo which is basically Halo 3 ported to PC and then heavily modified. Been playing it, can't wait for hosting w/o the need for port forwarding. It'll get big then. Forge, custom games and all included, some basic AI stuff being developed as well. Model importing is getting there...
Yeah. We'll see.
