I found this game to be average. Nothing bad, nothing great. It isn't GOTY worthy as its story wasn't all that ground breaking and the character development was mediocre at best. The A.I. wasn't bad, but it could of used some work, there weren't enough choices in the game, and the weapon were nothing spectacular (I personally was really looking forward to a compound bow at some point). After beating the story, I haven't really found any reason to go back and complete it. I was like a quick fix, I loved it while I was playing it, but looking back, it was something I could of probably avoided. Thoughts on this...?

While I respect your opinion, I disagree with your points.

The character development is actually quite good from my point of view
Watching a scared daredevil college boy grow into a fearsome warrior and all the steps in between is one of the best acts of character dev I've ever seen.
Also , watching his tattoo grow along with himself and his skills added to the experience.

The story is above average for most video games, but the fact that you don't spend any time with Jason and his friends before being kidnapped doesn't give you anything to actually care about them from.

the only real problems i found are the inch high ledges being harder to pass than a kidney stone and the fact that it looks just like every other game

I think my disappointments largely come from my expectations. I expected the supporting characters to offer more than they did, this would have made Jason's character a lot better than it was, a character in a story is only as good as those who shape him.
The story was a tad farfetched, though I could get around it, and wish they would have used Jason's brother, with the military experience. It was hard to buy in the idea that some Drunk college friends and Jason could even survive for 5 minutes, what they had been through. If he went through months of training first, that would have been a different story.
There weren't enough options to choose from, the only notable one I could think of was the one at the end with saving your friends or killing the gypsy chick, I wanted more factions and varying sides to join which would allow you to befriend some and make enemies with others, that's how the trailer played it any way.
Also, what did you think about the weapons, didn't really mention much on that? They had much more potential with the game, and while they did improve much since Farcry 2, they could have been a lot more in depth especially with the vastness of the island and the characters.

The say a LOT in the game that Jason has "A lot of untapped potential that people can see"

It never specifies what the potential is though, so it may just be a survivalist warrior

The weapons were MUCH better than other Sandboxes now a days

Most only give you 1 or 2 guns in each category

the 4-5 guns for each weapon type was a welcomed

It reminds me a lot of a First person RDR, so no matter what I'd enjoy it

Also I haven't actually completed it yet

I think that is perfectly reasonable reaction
