I actually grew up with people like the first vid. I had a book that explained how Pokemon was designed by Satan himself to convince children to let demons into their hearts. I had to write a report for my mom explaining how Pokemon were not soul stealers (and did not promote evolution) before I was allowed to have my Pokemon cards back.

I knew a woman who called deviled eggs, "angel eggs" because she didn't want to give Satan the glory of...being mentioned? Not being able to date "until marriage" was rather common and Christian music was the only music. Unless it was Christian Rock... or anything writen after 1900. Or that uses an instrument invented after 1850.


My family is way more chill now. My mom went to a Smashing Pumpkins show with my little sister.

Oh **** , son. I'm feel so bad for kids in psycho-religious households. It's nice to see one break free every once in a while. Normal religious families are the chillest. But once it gets to that point it's like a cult in itself.

It really wasn't so bad. My parents were mid-life converts so they took everything super literially. "Harry Potter is a wizard and being a sorcerer is a sin thus Harry Potter familiarizes children with witchcraft and is evil." After a couple of years they chilled out and I think they would most fit the "normal religious family" bill.

Mid-life converts are normally super hard core for a while because they miss the subtlety of their adopted religion and try to follow every single letter of the book.
