How harry potter would have ended if it enrolled american students
Don't worry, it was self defense. Voldemort had skittles

Every time I read/see Harry Potter I really get the urge to write a series. I just love the way a great series can bring so many people together and actually change the world so much.

Then I get sad because I know how hard it is.

I think most of it's popularity was done by good storytelling and not the quality of the advertising. The advertising never got me, but the films are watchable. Case reopened.

I don't suppose you could do one for Lord of the Rings or The Hobbit could you?

No, I'm not suggesting it because it's the new big fantasy movie. I see it as Harry Potter's predecessor in a way and would genuinely like to see interesting facts about another series I like done in this fashion.

Darth Vader is Luke's father, Rosebud was the sled, don Corleone gets killed, girlie poster in the cell is hiding a hole out of Shawshank and planet of the apes is actually earth.
Them spoilers...

I've seen this stuff before, and just want to say this:

Jack russel terriers are in no way liked with otters. They are bred to hunt foxes, and are devils for hunting rats.

Also, Lucius must have grown balls the size of watermelons to try avada kedavra on Dumbledores favorite pupil right under his nose. Plus, now I feel cheated if we don't get to see the whole torture scene in a directors edition or something.

I read #5 while listening to "In My Life" by the Beatles...
"though i know i'll never lose affection,
for people and things that went before,
i know i'll often stop and think about them,
in my life, i love you more"

commence waterworks.

So basically Voldermort cannot be blamed for any of his actions.
It wasn't his fault he was conceived via a love potion, ergo removing his ability to love.
If I couldn't love, and I mean anything, not just other humans, I'd be pretty ****** up too (or more ****** up than I already am).
This kind of undermines the whole point of the books. Dumbeldore would have had the knowledge about Voldermort's birth (he seems to know pretty much everything else), so why didn't he put some measures into preventing Tom Riddle's inevitable demise into hatred?

Was Dumbledore the evil character all along?
I suppose I can see Rowling's intentions in putting that element about Voldermort into the story, but it seriously ruins the rest of the book. Maybe it's just my philosophical understanding of free will, etc. that's led to such a conclusion.

the first book was published in 1997, not 1998
